INW Black for Pipe

##INW Black for Pipe##

Summary
This is a tough one for me, as I am by no means a tobacco connoisseur, but this concentrate blows me away with its authenticity! Back when I smoked a pipe and rolled cigarettes with pipe tobacco, one of my favorite tobaccos was this nordic spiced blend, a dark black tobacco with various spices and a touch of sweetness. This reminds me exactly of smoking that tobacco. If I were blindfolded and were smoking that tobacco out of a pipe and vaping this side-by-side, I feel I'd have a very difficult time telling the two apart. You get this smokey quality from it that is very pleasing and reminiscent of smoking pipe tobacco, but not a sort of ashy, overpowering, super dry smokiness. The tobacco itself is a deep, dark tobacco, with subtle spices, and a touch of sweetness from the smoked-plum. I don't get any of that "plastic" or "barber-shop-powder" flavor I get from a lot of tobaccos... it just tastes like a f***in delicious dark pipe tobacco. They nailed it with this one, and I get the feeling their whole "for pipe" line is going to have very similar qualities about it.

I get the feeling based on its jet black hue it's an NET, but I could be completely wrong. I do feel like I get an extra kick which could be from tobacco alkaloids, or just a placebo effect.

On the Nose
Deep dark pipe tobacco, subtle spices, burried underneath it is a smokey dark fruit.

Usage
Stand alone: 2-4%. I have it mixed at 3.5% and I think this is a great place for it, but will probably do 3 next time. Exceptional as a stand alone

In a mix: 1-3% depending on how forward you want this tobacco note.

Throat
Moderate, thumpy, pleasant, not sharp.

Pairings
Dark fruits, nuts, honey, whiskey, amaretto, vanilla.

Avoid
Not sure, I would think bright melons like honeydew perhaps. I could see a lot of things working with this.

Steep
Obviously as a tobacco it needs some time to come to fruition, but it is great straight-away. I was going to wait for the steep for a review but was just blown away by nostalgia and authenticity of this flavor. I will come back to this in 3 weeks for updated tasting notes.

Quick Recipe: The Norseman
Ratio: 10PG/90VG
Steep: 2 weeks; good straight-away but will develop more with time

  • INW Black for Pipe @ 3%
  • FA Marzipan @ 1%

I was really excited to try this when I got my flavorings in. The subtle cherry note pairs excellently with the tobacco and plays nicely with the smoked plum. The nuts bring a bit of additional depth to the tobacco, and the honey notes really bring a nice dark sweetness to bump up the flavor. Still working with the recipe; but this is great as is, I will probably try the INW Black for Pipe @ 2.5% and the FA Marzipan at 1.5% next time.

Coming back to this after a bit more than a month steep, it seems like the smokiness and the tobacco nuances are a bit more married, or one, than when I first tasted it. I'm still able to pick up on the nuances of the tobacco, especially once my palate gets used to the "smoke."

I agree Black for Pipe is delicious. I kinda feel like the main note in AM4A is present in Black for Pipe but more subtle, leaving more room for the tobacco.

Black sounds epic. Just added some to my BCV order; thanks for the encouragement.

Since the very first days of vaping I'd hoped to replicate that cavendish, loose-leaf cherry pipe-style tobacco using a tobacco flavoring and some kind of black cherry/almond/marzipan. Would this be a good option do you think?

I think so, they also have a Black Cherry for Pipe which might be more along the lines of what you're looking for. Haven't tried it though

oh cool, I can't seem to find it though. I saw a brief mention of it on ELR but not on any of the vendors. Must be rare.

Bull City Vapor has it if you're interested. I haven't been able to find any reviews on it though =(

I should do a Vanilla for Pipe, if it hasn't been reviewed already. I've been using it in a lot of tobacco recipes recently. It's delicious as well, I'm a fan of lighter tobaccos (with Cured Tobacco as the exception). My only complaint with it is it has to be paired with another tobacco to create something. It's light, my normal recipe for it calls for RY4 or other variants of tobaccos to showcase it's flavor fully.

I think you should! I haven't seen any for it. Very interesting. Does it have that smokey quality too? Have you tried the Black Cherry for pipe? That looks like maybe the next one that I'm going to check out.

I wouldn't call it smokey but it has a leafy-herbal essence to it but light like I said. I have a batch steeping with Cured Tobacco right now to see if that brings a better smokey-ness to it.

I would recommend it, my favorite flavor right now and it's great after a long day of work!

The Black Cherry will be on my next order with Black, definitely. How does Black for Pipe stack up against Cured Tobacco? It's my top tobacco right now but only with how close it taste to a cigar.

I gotcha, I could see that being very nice though. I couldn't tell you lol, I really only have one other tobacco (TFA RY4 Double). I've never really been a big fan of tobacco vapes, but got the Black on a whim since it sounded like the pipe tobacco I used to get and was very pleasantly surprised.
