FA Red Touch (Strawberry) [Flavor Review]
submitted over 9 years ago by wh1skeyk1ngDiketones, Schmiketones

Setup: Plume Veil RDA; dual parallel @ .35Ω; cotton wicks; 45W

Testing: FA Red Touch @ 4%; Aged: 8 days

Flavor description: A juicy strawberry rolled in sugar and pulverized into a velvety jelly. Well rounded strawberry taste overall. I taste a slight bit of candied strawberry in it, but reminds me of strawberry jelly with the seeds in it. (Preserves?)

Off-flavors: none at 4%

Throat hit: 5/10.

Uses: Sweetens up bitter fruits or blends with other fruits to create a unique flavor profile. Also great as a standalone.

Pairings: Creams, other fruits/citrus, desserts. 0.5-1% TFA Dragonfruit makes this flavor pop a little more as well.

Notes: With so many great strawberry flavors out there, I can't really say much besides try this one too. You won't be disappointed.

Worth noting that it's a little dry, not wet and juicy like other strawberries. It's almost like a freeze-dried strawberry. Not dried, because that would be super dense and sweet, but freeze-dried. That TFA Dragonfruit would indeed make it pop, almost like rehydrating a dehydrated fruit. Really good for adding a natural-fruit note on top of an otherwise candy-flavor strawberry like TFA Strawberry.

What was your mix? I did a 70 VG with 4% flavoring for this one, and it seems like it gets juicer the longer it sits in my cupboard.

Maybe worth noting too, I use nic at 3% in all of my single flavor testers because I feel that they lack some taste without it.

Like yours, 70% VG and 4% FA Strawberry. With 3mg/mL nic. However, I have not let standalone FA Strawberry sit for 8 days. Steeping for more than a couple of days might be all it needs to get juicer. Also, I've only tried it standalone until the 10mL sample I made was gone, and that was some time ago.

With a few exceptions, whenever I've made an all-FA fruit flavor vape, they have seemed been on the "dry" side and tasted like they could use some TFA Marshmallow 1% or INW Cactus 0.5% or less (or some other flavor) to make them wetter. But I must concede, that doesn't mean Strawberry Red Touch is necessarily the culprit, could just be the other FA fruit flavors I've mixed it with (Fuji, Kiwi, Pear, Stark Apple, Watermelon, Mango, a few others).

I actually forgot I had any left. Found it buried among the 30 or so bottles of juice I've got in my cupboard right now, and figured why not do a review on it? haha

This is hands down my favorite strawberry. Tfa Ripe wins second best. They're very similar though.

Good review!

Very possibly, Peanut Butter is a beast I myself haven't quite tamed yet though.

I have FA Strawberry, but the bottle doesn't say "Red Touch" (original FA bottle, expires 2017). So is all FA Strawberry the "Red Touch" strawberry?

That would be correct.

I have some on order, I'll check it out. As some have mentioned, for me most FA flavors I've tried are on the dry side. It's like whenever I vape them, first hit and I go "yep, this has FA in it. Perhaps I'm sensitive to the dry note. Using FA flavorings is a relatively new thing for me and that dry effect is what stood out to me. Both Cream Fresh and Vienna Cream were a disappointment for me. Even using those at 1% was too dry. I have to get used to how to use them. Will play with this one and see how it goes. I do love my strawberries.
