Flavor Review - FLV Wild Melon
submitted over 9 years ago by CheebaSteebaFrugivore

##FLV Wild Melon
Summary
This is a great, flavorful, refreshing, melon mix. I almost get an Orange Watermelon flavor from it, similar to INW Melon but a little better IMO. If I had to try to pick which melons I'm tasting I would say Watermelon, Honeydew, Cantaloupe. I'm not sure what exactly they were going for with this one but it came out really darn tasty.

On the Nose
Getting mostly a scent of a sweet, perfectly ripe honeydew. Detecting banana (realistic, medium-ripe)? wtf?

Usage
Stand alone: 2-3% for a tasty, full flavored melon vape.

In a mix: .5-2% depending on how prominent you want the melon.

Throat
Moderate

Pairings
Creams (light on dairy note), Marshmallow, other melons, fruits.

Avoid
Coffee, creams with heavy dairy notes. This is a pretty bright flavor so I'd imagine overly "dark" flavors would clash.

Steep
With this being a pretty bright fruit, it doesn't necessarily need to steep long, I'd say overnight for this one. Seems to hold it's own pretty well throughout a steep of a few weeks; haven't had a mix on hand last longer than 1m to see how it fares.

Quick Recipe: Melon Mix
Ratio: 10PG/90VG
Steep: 3+ days

  • FLV Wild Melon @ 1.5%
  • FLV Cantaloupe @ 0.75%
  • TFA Marshmallow @ 1%
  • FLV Cream @ 1%

This is just a quick recipe I vape to give an idea of how I like to use it. This mix IMO really lets the Wild Melon shine. FLV Cantaloupe is a great cantaloupe flavor that's almost creamy, which boosts the melon as well as accenting the creams. TFA Marshmallow adds some additonal creaminess and sweetens the mix up a bit. FLV Cream provides some nice creamy body while not being overbearing on dairy notes.

I've had success adding in TFA Honeydew, using FA Fresh Cream in place of FLV Cream, FA Meringue, etc. There are a lot of possible ways to take this sort of mix, so feel free to sub in your favorite creams, melons, etc.

Thanks for the review. Wild Melon & Cantaloupe were my "random" picks in my last order. Now I know exactly what I'll be doing with them :)

FLV Cantaloupe 2% by itself is delicious and slightly creamy in a way. FLV Wild Melon 3-4% is absolutely amazing by itself! However, be weary of using them with other non FLV flavors. They do some funky stuff with non FLV flavors or they just lose all potency, it's really weird.

Wild Melon is much better than Cantaloupe, even at 2%.

I mixed Wild Melon with FA Forest Fruit and it tasted strongly of guava!

Awesome! Cantaloupe is a good one too. It's a little throaty to me so I don't like bringing it past 1% though

That is a delicious recipe! I only had the patience to wait a couple days but the FLV Cream is already blending perfectly. I can imagine adding in other layers, but it's surprisingly complex for how simple the recipe seems. Very refreshing and ADV worthy.

Thanks, mane.

Very sweet blend of melons. Tastes like a blend of watermelon and honeydew with a hint of cantaloupe? Almost candy like. Pretty potent and dominant. 1.5-2% in mixes is very flavorful and will take over if not careful. Yummy and refreshing. I want to try this with small amounts of lime and/or INW Cactus, I think it will accent/amplify this flavor, might be an interesting combo for a fruity drink or salad?
