Just placed my first order with one of the vendors from the sidebar. After doing the math, I'll be making 30mL bottles for 75 cents!
Just wanted to give a big thank you to all the contributors to DIY_eJuice. All the resources and links have been extremely helpful, and I'm looking forward to creating a plethora of flavors!
Cost is pretty nice. Not sure how shops get away with selling 30ml bottles of 'premium' ejuice for £10+, lol.
Same reason grocery stores get away with selling a cup of sliced watermelon for $4 when an entire watermelon is $4, convenience.
There is more to it than just convenience.
Mostly the belief that prestige pricing reflects the product. It mostly doesn't, and even if it did - you can make something similar/identical for a fraction of the cost. It's less inconvenient in the long run as you're spending money you've earned through hard work. Use a few minutes of spare time to make up a batch of liquid and save yourself both time and money.
In fairness, the cost is also in developing flavours. We just use clone recipes or produce our own flavours that generally no-one else will ever try, but those vendors generally spend a lot of time and labour creating those flavours that may the be purchased by thousands of customers.
As others have pointed out, it is the argument for why food you could make yourself is more expensive when purchased in a restaurant.
what are you going to be making for 75 cents? most of my favorite recipes are around $1, that includes the VG, nic and concentrates.
May I sugest a recipe Dreamsicle if you don't have all the flavors... get them.
The 75 cents figure was the total cost of the eJuice materials divided by the total mL of fluid ordered to get price per mL, then I multiplied that by 30 to get an idea of what my cost per 30mL bottle.
But, I generally like fruit flavors and many of the concentrates I ordered were reviewed as "good at a 1-2% by itself."
You made juice for .75 how woah sorry im new to diy
TL:DR- Here's a video that breaks down the wall of text below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0m-cHgU3KBk
This is a common price point for a 30mL bottle when you go DIY. 1 liter (1000 ml) of PG or VG goes for about 12 dollars. So assuming a 50/50 mix, we are at $24. You can then get some 100mg nicotine, 30 mL, for $8. So far we've got 2030mL of unflavored ejuice at 32 bucks.
32/2030= 0.0015 per mL
Multiply that by 30 (for a 30mL bottle) and you are around 0.47 per 30mL bottle.
Now, most flavors average about 0.3 dollars per mL. This is on the high side because most fruit flavors I enjoy are 2 bucks for 10mL (0.2) but some are a little more. So assuming our flavors will be 20% of our mix, again, this is a higher estimate (2030*.20=408) We'd need 408 ml of flavor for 2030mL of base. 408mL at 0.2 dollars per mL is ~122.00 dollars for flavor. (This figure doesn't have to be all upfront cost)
So, we have 32 bucks for our base liquid, plus the 122.00 dollars for flavor is 154 bucks for 2438 mL of flavored eJuice. That's 0.063 dollars per mL of flavored juice coming in at 1.89 dollars per 30mL assuming we always mix at 20%. But for MY selections in flavors and % of flavor use comes to around 0.75 dollars per 30mL.
Anytime! You are always welcome here. It's a pleasure to have you, feel free to post any questions you'd like!
Doesn't look like OP has asked any questions. Unlike you, he's smart enough to use the sidebar & searchbar to find information & not fuck around with pure nicotine.
