Remember to back up your recipes or else you'll lose all of them like I did.
submitted over 9 years ago by EnyawreklawCreator - Best Recipe of 2015: Rhodonite

So I just got a new PC and in the midst of transferring my SSD and HDD to it I deleted all the programs I felt I didn't need anymore and backed up all my documents. Well I forgot that Ejuice Me Up saves into its Program Files and not to my documents HDD, and lost all 2000+ recipes. Many are just one off's and testing, but many were also for clients. I'm currently in the processing of trying to recover it, but I think they are gone. Just a warning.

Set the save directory to your local Dropbox or Google drive folder. It will sync automatically, and this will never happen again.

This. Personally I like to keep my recipes in a drive spreadsheet. There's no losing it that way, plus I can see old revisions of recipes.

This exactly. Just make sure if you ever turn off dropbox that it autosyncs the next time you start it. Mine didn't for a little while and I lost some experimental stuff as well. I also keep hard copies now of all the recipes I actually sell so I can re-create if required.

Pen and Paper FTW !1!11!!!

A wise man once told me ...

I make up a name, you know, In this case lets just call it Strawberry Vanilla Ice Cream, We write that at the top, right?!, Underneath we write what we mixed it at 70/30, you know?!, 3mg Nicotine and then you write the date, 05/19/15, underneath that you write No Steep, Write the date again, 05/19/15 and then you start writing your notes ...

Hey man, I know the feeling. I'd try a recovery program like Recuva if you haven't already. It can analyze the disk to see if it can pull any data that has been copied over and even formatted.

There might be some freeware better than Recuva out there now, but I have had success with that one in particular before in the past.

Good luck, hope this helps... -pr9me

No problem... it's from the same company that makes CCleaner.

Was this on your HDD or SSD?

Have you, since the loss, overwritten that segment of said drive?

This. I doubt the data is actually gone. I remember thinking the undelete command was magic when I ran DOS 5.0, until I learned how data storage works.

damn, I'm sorry dude. When I was doing some builds of my juice calculator I overwrote a really good vanilla bourbon cream recipe I'd worked out and lost it. It was about that time that I spent 4 hours writing the export/import code to save my libraries to iCloud lol. I feel your pain, but not anywhere close to the level that you're feeling it. Sorry for your loss!

I did this too, I used Recuva to get them all back after formatting my HDD.

I don't keep anything on my computer thats important , if something happens to it i just wipe the drive and start over or use a back up image.

Recipes ALL go into a recipe book never on computer.

Damn man. I'm sorry to hear this. I hope that some of the suggestions here will help you recover them.

One day I'm going to set up my calculator to use my raid 5 NAS for its save file. I've only been meaning to do it for 6 months so, maybe next year. I'll still use pen and paper as well though.

Evernote is a pretty amazing piece of software. I use it to take notes in all my lecture classes, and have separate notebooks for things I do around the house. Notebook for juice recipes, guitar tabs, regular shopping list stuff, etc.

I put all my recipes in there and use my phone or tablet while mixing up a bottles for myself and the wifey. Makes everything less complicated.

Oh, and web clips are a thing in Evernote. Find a recipe you like on ELR? Web clip it, shove it in your juice notebook and you're set.

If you did not write to the HDD since then, your chances of recovery are pretty high. Which OS are you using?

Aww man. I saw that reinstall on YouTube. You know, AllTheFlavors backs up your synced recipes online............. So..... <3 much love

I hope you can recover them, man. I know I would be beaten if that happen to me.

I know it's really weird to do this but I write down my drafts in one mini-notebook and my finished recipes in another. I know it's harder to pull up but it's just because of things like this. I highly recommend it, a little hand-movement is worth the risk.

Did that happen during your live mixing show?

I saw this yesterday afternoon and I held off clicking until tonight hoping for some good (recovery) news.

This is too horrifying. Please tell me there's a silver-lining update? No luck with Recuva?

Maaaaaaaaaaaan. I'm SO sorry for your loss. Good luck on the attempt at recovery (mentioned herein).

I've already got plans on making some more of your recipes (just waiting for a few more flavors), but I've got several already bookmarked in ELR.

Also wanted to say a huge thanks for all that you've shared, and some great work!

I print out a "card" for every blend and keep them all in a plastic bin.

Or just save them all on here so we can all look through your sweet stash!

I feel like a directory of best juice recipe stashes should be on here, for us to vote on which is the best, so that everyone can find and use them pretty well. A small zip file containing .txt files of the flavors would work very well.
