Inawera White Grapefruit

So every once in awhile I'll splurge on flavorings I havent tried yet and this recent order I went with a couple of Inawera's offerings as I don't have much of their flavorings. I got in Lemon Concentrate, Lemon mix, Shisha Vanilla, Watermelon and White Grapefruit. I made my testers and wasn't all that surprised that Lemon Concentrate was a bit harsh (I expect citrus flavorings to have a decent throat hit). I enjoyed the Watermelon (it is more of a candied watermelon which I am ok with). The White Grapefruit though was a surprise hit for me. It is mostly tart with a slight sweetness which is the grapefruit taste that I really love. I was expecting some kind of throat hit but alas, it was very smooth. I make all my testers for Inawera at 1%. I don't know what I am going to do with it as far as recipes go but if you like Grapefruit, I suggest giving Inawera White Grapefruit a try.

Thanks for the notes. I've had it for a little while but have been a little hesitant to try it. I was kind of expecting it to rip my throat apart. I'll look forward to mixing it up now

Thats what my expectation was knowing the acidic nature of Grapefruit and other citrus flavors. Very pleased it was smooth (not a big fan of throat hit)

Have you tried FA Grapefruit? If so, how would you contrast that with the INW grapefruit?

I have not though I have read some people say its more like a Ruby Red grapefruit.

Yeah, it definitely is more like a red grapefruit. I'll have to get the INW one and try that out as well, maybe that's the right grapefruit for the citrus mix I'm working on.

I believe inw has white grapefruit and regular grapefruit. I haven't had time to test them out yet but just know.

Could be. Would def give some tartness to it if thats what you are looking for.

Try a Grapefruit Watermelon Cooler...Since you have the flavors and all.

INW Watermelon is pretty sweet and INW White Grapefruit is pretty tart. They might work together, Ill have to test and come back

I've been meaning to try INW White Grapefruit out, but I just got in like 40 new flavors so I haven't had a chance yet. I'll get to it eventually. However, I am in love with INW Lemon, it pairs really nicely with CAP Italian Lemon Sicily and CAP Lemon Lime for both bakery flavors and soda fountain beverage stuff. Definitely potent, and it holds up nicely to a steep which isn't all that common in lemons

After trying their lemon mix I really want to try lemon. The lemon mix is more like a lemon rind which is awesome in certain mixes and to add some punch to my lemonades but I really want a strong lemon that stands up to a good steep

I would describe their Lemon as a strong lemon that stands up to a good steep. In fact it's the only lemon I've found that does hold its own against heavy, buttery creams like VBIC. And it goes so well with their Lemon Mix. I've made a bottle of "INW lemon base" that's 75% Lemon Concentrate and 25% Lemon Mix, which I then use at 2.5% or less.

thats a good idea. I have both so Ill have to make a small base and test it. FA Lemon Sicily alone is not enough for bakeries hence why I bought INW LM and LC

have you tried lemon by flavor express? It is delicious with VBIC, but my staple is 4% Lemon by FE and 4% FA vienna cream give it a week steep or less i just let everything wait a week at least, and its like a lemon head

I really like FA Lemon Sicily with my Lemonade recipe. However, FA Lemon Sicily didn't work so well in the last bakery attempt I made which is why I went out on a limb and got both the Lemons from INW. I get the feeling that INW Lemon Mix would be better in bakeries as it is much more mellow than INW Lemon Concentrate.

The harshness from Lemon Concentrate completely fades after a short 2-3 day steep (even at 3-4%).

Totally agree on the INW White Grapefruit @1%... authentic grapefruit taste, right combination of sweetness and tart. Delicious.

The only other grapefruit I've tried is FW Ruby Red Grapefruit... also good, but I've only mixed it once, never revisited... unlike the INWWG, which I've mixed again and again. Such a nice contrast to the bakery flavours I usually prefer.
