Mouth Feel - Sharp and smooth at the same time with a slight throat hit moderately heavy on the tongue.
Flavor Properties- Sweet and tart very candy like strawberry flavor.
Relatable Flavors - Strawberry Jolly Rancher or a strawberry salt water taffy.
Off Flavors - Getting a very slight medicine type and it's just a little chalky.
Position in the recipe - This is very versatile flavor should work in a base, as a top note, and an accent. I have also heard that it contains emulsifying properties so could even be an additive.
Pairings - All the obvious creams, banana, other berries. Bakeries such as yellow cake, add a little caramel or butterscotch to sweeten it up.
Just want to sincerely thank you for doing this. I'm really new to mixing and your notes are super helpful in deciding what to flesh out my flavor collection with.
If you are new to mixing, I personally recommend strawbRIPE over strawberry if you have to choose, best case would be to use both. Ripe is a little "earthy" while strawberry is more "candy " which can equate to chemically if you use too much.
I kind of wish I had found strawberry sooner. I love ripe but I've never been able to get it up front enough on its own. It always needs help from a different strawberry to cut through. I've started using ripe as an additive (for the maltol) and strawberry (or MF or CAP Sweet) when I want to actually taste strawberry.
TFA used to have organic strawberry that was the same flavor but without all the drab notes. Currently only available in 1gal size. Wish I could get a group buy going or something but I lack the motivation so I just use this flavor and dream about what could've been.
Ive got a 16 oz of it I can't do anything with. It tastes.... greasy to me and always separates in the bottle idk why it has such a funny taste to it.
Yes it separates in the bottle. You have to really shake it. I used to mix it straight up at 5% and it required a light steep IIRC. Also combined it with TFA milk chocolate and vanilla bean ice cream to make a delicious Neapolitan ice cream flavor. Sorry I don't remember exact percentages, I lost my recipes and have been slowly rebuilding them since.
