How to make a tobacco blend that isn't sickly sweet? Trying for cigar flavors.

I've been looking for a juice blend that is an acceptable replacement for a cigar. I've done a good deal of searching and while I have found threads suggesting various tobacco flavors I haven't found much in terms of actual completed recipes. I've mostly been shooting in the dark with my attempts.

I tried ordering a few premade cigar e-juices before I started mixing my own to try to get a sense of what a good one should taste like, but they suffer from the same issue I have so far had: they're way too sweet. Way sweeter than any cigar. The taste is more like that of the sweetened tip of a flavored cigar without any of the smoke, but in a weird synthetic disgusting sweetness. It's worlds apart from a spicy, earthy cigar.

I have tried 100% PG blends to get rid of any sweetness from the VG and it does help, but not enough. My home made juice blends have been garbage to begin with in terms of flavor profile, but without first dealing with the sweetness issue I'm not sure they're even worth improving.

I'm thinking right now that rather than using tobacco flavors to create something that tastes like a cigar I should instead base the mix on flavors like black pepper and cream maybe with a hint of smoke. But again, I'm shooting in the dark.

Any suggestions for what I should do? Any tried and true mixes for cigar lovers?

Here's a list of my tobacco flavors which were purchased based on the descriptions in the Mega Tobacco Tasting Note Thread:

Tobacco DNB INW
Black Fire-FA
Cuban Supreme-FA
Dark For Pipe-INW (have not tried yet)
Black For Pipe-INW (have not tried yet)
Cured Tobacco-FLV

Besides these I have a few dozen fruit/pastry flavors from MBV, I'm not sure who the actual manufacturer of MBV's flavors is. I do think black pepper is a key ingredient I'm missing to give cigar blends some spice, I may have to add that to the arsenal.

Man... I totally forgot about this stuff -- I bought some a while back but never used it -- I'll definitely be diggin' it outta the hole it's been hiding in. The sweetness in most tobacco flavors I've tried has really put me off, but this might rekindle my interest once I get outta the current banana-crack phase I'm stuck in...

My most recent addiction is a bananaberry bastardization of NCM's SSbICB I threw together one night -- A coil killer in the tank after a couple days, but guilty effing pleasure to be sure.

Just threw down a tester of Ciggy Marley too, since I needed something new -- I haven't been able to satisfy the banana crave and have never tried it til now -- It's satisfying but lacking something -- a little AP, caramel or both, I think...

Have you tried T Juice Cubana? It's the only concentrate that I've tried that comes close.

I've given up on any tobacco concentrates that aren't NETs now. Some are ok'ish, others are just bizarre.

I haven't, I'm in the US but I'll see if I can find a vendor. I'm apprehensive to buy another tobacco flavor since the ones I've already purchased seemed to be highly reviewed but turned out nothing like what I was looking for. I guess I'll have to one way or another though.

I'm not sure about the US, but there seem to be more NET manufacturers than we get in the UK.

Reddit isn't a great place for advice about tobacco juices really. You might be better off looking for advice on a different forum.

Do you find NET's to provide flavors close to actual cigars? By my imagination it seems like they would still be pretty sweet and taste more like eating a cigar than smoking one.

Shoot, should have added that to an order I just placed. I have tried a few mixes with Shisha Vanilla which was recommended in another thread I was reading about cigar juice. No AP though. Does it help with the sweetness? I have high hopes for the Bitter Wizard that was recommended by /u/m_i_r

Hey /u/nvaus im rereading your op now that ive got real life handled to the best of my ability. Im must going to edit this comment.

Avoid TFA cubano if you havent already, its much like cuban supreme from the smell if memory serves correct. I really havent tried many of the flavors you listed, 50/50 pg vg can help minimize sweetness. Or that bittter wizard i hear so much about. To back up what other users are saying you may just need to go NET mane.

A lot of these flavors are inherently sweet, so you may need to think outside the box and utilize lemon or something else like camel exotic blends.

I'd recommend checking out TFA DK Type Tobacco, it's a nice, thick, mild, earthy tobacco that I've used with great success to bring other flavors together.

Goodejuice. com has some absolutely awesome NET eliquids The Godfather is a super good cigar flavor. It may be worth ordering a couple of their homebrew NETs to get a feel for the flavor profiles. They are decently priced and come in 15 and 30ml.

I love tobacco mixes, and I've found that combining a light and a dark will give you the most authentic...a cream base is nice too, though you wouldn't think it- Loranns Cream Cheese icing or really anything with buteric acid (the cheesy smell) adds to the flavor- Here's an example:
Damned Good Tobacco
3% TFA cheesecake with Graham cracker crust
3% TFA DK Tab
3% LA Cream cheese frosting
2% TFA or VZ Black Honey Tobacco
.5% AP

Subbed SC Cohiba and Cigar Passion-FA for the Hava Tobacco and the Cohiba at same 2% each. INW Cherry Concentrate for FLV Bing Cherry @ 1.5.

You could probably sub Cuban Supreme-FA @ 4% or Cured Tobacco-FLV @ 1% & CS-FA @ 3%. Leave off the cherry (to minus the sweet) altogether and add whatever spices you want.

This recipe is in between a cheap flavored cigar and a really good cigar with almost out of place cherry flavor. It's good. Really good but the taste bounces around some. What I like about it the most, it's on the drier side with the cigar. Like you are tasting the actual wrapper leaf. I tried a few of his other recipes and they are good but for what I'm looking to work from, this one was the best.

I was thinking of steeping some PG with some of my pipe tobacco, sort of like a tea… Has anyone tried that? I'm talking about real pipe tobacco, not the cheap shit used for roll your own analogs.

I know a dude that does that, he says it's pretty tasty. I haven't tried it myself, and I haven't tried his either. the shipping alone for me to try some is a bit crazy, something like $30 to ship a 10mL bottle to me. at those prices, I'll just try other concentrates until I get the one I'm after.

Not necessarily mixing advice, but for a juice that tastes more like a cigar than any other juice I tried is the VCT Reserve by Ripe Vape. It would serve as a good starting point for exploration

I have, more than a few times. A number of the posts are what I referenced when choosing the tobacco flavors to purchase. There are lots of questions, few actual recipes, fewer still that don't contain a sweet element, and none that specify not being sweet that I can find. Maybe I'm missing something.
