note: there is TFA Honeydew I and II out there, this might be the II version. I will report back.
##Main Notes:##
TFA Honeydew is very sweet, fruity and fresh. It's not a spot on, realistic honeydew; more of a candy-like version.
##Developement:##
At 2% it is thin, more fresh and watery. The background notes come to the front after a short steep.
At 5% you got yourself a really bold honeydew flavor. At =<5% it seems to hit the sweet spot, giving you a very clear flavor profile.
At 10% it started off very strong - the sweetness and the fruityness diminished almost completely, leaving you with some muted honeydew volatiles.
##Recommended Percentage and Steep:##
I would recommend 2-5% for standalone flavor and a short steep (overnight to 3 days).
##Toxicity##
Volatile | contains
---|---
Acetoin |
Diacetyl |
Acetyl Propionyl|
##Other:## TFA has Honeydew and Honeydew II flavoring. I suspect I tested the II version.
My testing setup: Griffin RTA, Dual Kanthal Coils reading at 0.5, 30 Watts.
I make 3 10ml bottles (3mg nicotine, 50/50 PG VG) and steep them for 4 weeks. I test them after 1, 3, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days.
Also worth noting this will "stain" everything it touches with Honeydew flavour.
I did a test on a dripper "5 drags" used the same drip tip (after rinsing under the tap) on my tank and I could taste honeydew for 2 days after.
Edit: Not saying Honeydew is not a nice flavour, I just don't want everything to taste of it
So much this. My GF made a quip around a year ago that all my juice tasted like Honeydew. I never vaped the stuff often enough to realize what the deal was. Drove me nuts for a week, thinking Honeydew had somehow overtaken my mixing station
I think the DIY faries are breaking in to your house and adding 2% Honeydew to everything you're mixing when you go to sleep :)
I've put 3 drops of TFA Honeydew in a mix and it will just taste like a straight Honeydew mic. Somehow it always overpowers everything else in the mix.
I think this flavour may benefit from a dilution like u/vurve was talking about in his recent Modest monday post
Edit: on a positive note if you really like honeydew you now have something else like menthol that you can add to failed juices to cover the taste of failed mixing and make it somewhat vapable
I'm not only one who gets a soapy off-note from TFA Honeydew, right? I have a couple of recipes with 2% TFA Honeydew that I love, but at 3%, even mixed with other strong flavors, I start to taste soap. 5% tastes like Bath & Body Works.
Well, TFA has Honeydew, which is the expensive and very potent one, and a Honeydew II flavor. I am not sure which one I got, but I am gonna restock soon and see how it compares to this one. I am guessing II.
I never understood how anyone got a candy taste from TFA Honeydew. It's wayyyy too crisp and wet tasting to be a candy.
So if I do want a really candy tasting honeydew, like those Japanese sodas, which honeydew works best?
