Hi I'm Deeg. Short-time DIYer and Short-time lurker here. got into vaping about 2 months ago after years of daily hookah abuse (4+ bowls a day, my lungs hated me). I was fortunate enough to get a starter setup from Ballistic Vapes (their warehouse is next door to mine) and realized quickly that buying juice was gonna be a lil expensive. With a background in homebrewing, I figured DIY would be easy and fun to do. The first thing I did was buy all the ingredients for the Cutwoodspy Unicorn Milk clone, and vaped the shit out of that. After a while, I wanted to expand my palette and see what funky shit I'd be able to come up with. I wanted to do a stone fruit creamy vape, almost like a breakfast of fruit, granola, and yogurt/creamy white deliciousness and made this concoction. Great as a shake and vape, if I had any that lasted long enough to steep I'd probably tell you it turns out way fucking better, but since this became my new ADV, shit doesn't last, yo. Anyways, enough about my life story, here's the motherfucking recipe.
- Almond (FA) 0.5%
- Bavarian Cream (TFA) 1.5%
- Cantaloupe (FA) 0.5%
- Fuji Apple (FA) 0.5%
- Greek Yogurt (FW) 1%
- Honeydew II (TFA) 1%
- Mango (Hangsen) 2%
- Peach (FA) 3%
- Strawberry Ripe (TFA) 1%
- Sweet Cream (CAP) 3%
- Sweet Mango (CAP) 0.75%
Sweet Cream, Bavarian Cream, Greek Yogurt
This is the creamy, yogurty, unicorn jizzy base that would be at a bottom of the bowl of the breakfast of gods. I tried upping the greek yogurt in v2, but it lost a lot of the fruity deliciousness, which caused my taste buds to be sad as a 4th place finish. I think these play well with each other, and there's enough body to carry the fruit-forward flavor, which is...
Cantaloupe, Honeydew II, Mango, Peach, Sweet Mango
Here's the main shit of this recipe. The bees knees. The first kiss. Fucking party in my mouth. Stone fruit at it's finest. I just threw the percentages in willy nilly and was extremely damn happy on v1, so I never fucked with them again. HS Mango is so earthy and umami and shit (and my favorite mango flavoring I've tried in my vast weeks as a DIYer) that it completely balances out the peach, and the sweet mango is there to add a lil, uh, sweet to it. Get it, Sweet Mango adds the sweet? Yeah, took me a minute to figure that out too.
Fuji Apple, Strawberry (Ripe)
These add the sweetness kick to the recipe so it doesn't taste like earth and crying babies. Not much more to say besides FUCKING DELICIOUS.
Almond
Since you can't really have a breakfast fruit bowl without granola (if you say otherwise, GTFO) and I have no fucking idea how I would whip up some sort of granola flavor, I threw in a smidge of Almond as a nuttiness substitute. I'm sure some AP would be a great addition, but since I have none, well, fuck it.
Yeah, I know, a bit complicated for a beginner, but shit's tasty as fuck. Here's the ELR link for those who want to try it out: http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/657787/Light+Breakfast+v3
Any thoughts/feedback/criticism/etc would be greatly appreciated, as I'm here to learn how to make my tobacco-free life better.
Cantaloupe & honeydew aren't stone fruit, FWIW.
I feel the opposite, HS Mango to me is very sweet and almost creamy. CAP is more earthy, and it smells like plastic and piss.
Looks good though
I think as whole this sub is getting way too weird with how many flavors they're adding to mixes. Pick the 3 or 4 best concentrates that go together, and knock off the ones you don't need. In a few cases, layering works well, but only a few. You should be maximizing flavor with the volatiles you selected for the profile and be able to do it in less than 5 flavors. Anything more than that and shit is starting to taste weird.
People don't give enough credit to the concentrates themselves and don't use enough flavoring as is.
"I used Cinnamon Danish Swirl at .5% and Cinnamon Roll at .5% to boost the Cinnamon Danish." Maybe if you used Cinnamon Roll at 4% and found the correct cream for it, you wouldn't need to add the extra cinnamon flavor. It's like when people use 8 different cookie concentrates to make a cookie base. At what point are things getting muddled?
I'm finding things are turning out much better after a steep IN MOST cases, when keeping the recipes simpler and less complicated. The flavors I always come back to are the ones that are just light enough, but not too light, to have you keep vaping it and wanting more of that flavor. You don't achieve that ADV by having 16 different concentrates in your recipe. Some profiles are hard, like Rhodonite or Holy Cannoli, and require thinking outside the box. But very rarely are the best selling ejuices more than 4 or 5 concentrates (not talking about bullshit "my man" juices.)
I agree with this. I also found less is more, it almost seems like people try layering multiple flavorings and it just exponentially increases the margin of error.
My best juices rarely past 6 flavorings.
One thing I'll notice, is that a lot of juices that are popular here have their own combination of (X+X=Y), rather than specific and unique flavorings specific for the goal.
The whole idea of "fruitstone" and "milkstone" has really been omitted lately due to lack of versatility with those stones.
I've started doing this recently. Some clones I made in the past got to crazy amounts of flavors in them. You can rarely make the exact same juice a second time when you have that many flavors at low percents. Now I am just trying to simplify things and go with a few flavors and maybe up to 5 or 6 if it actually calls for it.
I try and look at every vendor recipe that gets released and I've noticed the same thing in a lot of them. 5 flavors or less with a lot of them having 3 or less. There are some more complex ones out there I'm sure but it's smart to keep them simple for a business.
