Mouth Feel - sweet and slightly savory light on the tongue with no throat hit moderately dense 4 out of 10
Flavor Properties- granny and slightly sweet great representation of cereal
Relatable Flavors - Captain Crunch without the berries you know those little yellow things that cut the shit out of your mouth or a pancake without the syrup
Position in the recipe - going to do best in the background pushing the percentage should bring it up and make a great base
Pairings - start with the obvious berries and cinnamon this flavor should go well with creams and ice creams other cereals and bakeries such as inw biscuit should push the cereal flavor a little further and I can't wait to try it with a little chocolate
Am I the only one that gets a doughy flavor from this? My cousin agreed, but he's the only person I know that had tried it.
You're not alone. The first time i tasted this flavor was in a juice i ordered from the states called carnival. Its a strawberry deepfried ice cream. Really tasty, but has a slight doughiness to the flavor profile. As soon as i tasted this crunch cereal, i knew thats what was giving it that flavor. People seem to either love it or hate it. I personally think its a great flavor to be used as a pie crust or something along those lines.
> Position in the recipe - going to do best in the background pushing the percentage should bring it up and make a great base ..
have you tried this any lower than %5 i think your using to high a % on everything your mixing
Great Flavor Profile. its cool other people are working with this flavoring. Alone it is nowhere near anything vape-able. but with some help. it makes the best cin crunch vape youll ever have.
it pairs well with meringue, Hazelnut, Malted milk, Sweet Cream, Marshmallow, Graham Cracker, Butter Pecan, Apple Pie, Whipped Cream, Blueberry, Waffle. among many others! those are just the ones i used it with most in my different mixes.
Maybe there's something wrong with me or I received a bum batch, but the only flavor I got from Crunch Cereal when I tried it at 3% was mushroom.
You are not alone, I also taste mushroom, sweet fried mushroom. So awful.
Ahahaha, well at least I'm not crazy. This made me go back to my mix of it from about 2-3 months ago and the mushroom is pretty much gone and it just has a nice sweetened, fried taste. From some research it seems like TFA Crunch Berry gets a similar "mushroom" effect at high percentages (8%+), so perhaps it's a particular chemical that some people are sensitive to (like the pepper taste from TFA VBIC.) I'll make a 10% dilution, try at 2-5% and report back to see if it gets better.
I got a bottle of this and I have to agree. It taste nothing like captain crunch and I'm getting chemically mushrooms. Did you order yours from gremlin by chance?
I did order mine from gremlin back in mid-march. I'm not sure how quickly their Flavorah stuff moves, so that timeframe could be a bit meaningless.
As to testing with the 10% dilution... Eh... Hardly anything worth reporting. I mixed the diluted crunch cereal to 5% of the total batch. No mushroom, but the mix mostly just tasted like unflavored base with a slight hint of something sweet and fried (honestly though the sweetness could be coming from the VG it was so faint).
Since doing this I've used a drop per 10 ml (undiluted) to give some bakeries a fried essence. For me there will be a slight hint of mushroom in the first 3 or 4 days of steeping that goes away at about the seven day mark.
The effect is similar to FA Joy but not quite the same. I also find it slightly easier to work with in this context because the addition of Joy can radically alter the balance of a recipe.
Mine tastes like a V8 Fusion drink, almost like fruity tomato juice. That was at a higher percentage though. I mixed it too high I think so I'm going to put some cut on it when I get home. Here are my notes
Crunch Cereal FLV 8% 80VG May 17 2PM 43.6W @ 430F
Deep berry taste, not in your face and crisp, but really creamy, buttery and thick in the back of my throat on exhale. Almost like an after taste from a V8 drink.
Reminiscent of Cinnamon Toast Crunch FLV as far as the base.
Fruity gummy bear taste, at this percentage it tastes a lot like Nana Cream clone, maybe it's dragon fruit.
I mixed this at 5% and steeped it. My wife made the most horrible face - I thought it was a dry hit somehow.
I tasted it and it is skunky.
SHIT, I could finally do Coco-Puffs with this flavor.
The pancake without the syrup is a good note. I mixed it with Rich Cinnamon and some Brown Sugar for god knows what reason and I got a fucking sweet maple syrup pancake. I could have marked that shit as premium with how sweet that was.
