[Recipe/Notes Included]: Pecan 3.14
submitted over 9 years ago by TechnicolorRainbows

As a child and an adult, I've always had a weakness for warm pecan pie and a glass of milk. It's probably the one food I could be a glutton with for all of eternity. So the other day, I ordered a couple of flavors and got to work on a recipe for it. So I present you with Pecan 3.14

Flavorings|Percentages| :--|:--| Almond (FA)|.5%| Butter Pecan (FW)|3%| Caramel (FA)|.5%| Pie Crust (TFA)|1.5%| Vanilla Custard (Cap)|1.5%| Vanilla (Bourbon) (FA)|.5| Brown Sugar (TFA)|1%|

Flavoring Total: 8.5%

Mixed at 30pg/70vg

Steeping Time: 1 Week + (it gets more rich as it steeps)

Notes:

Butter Pecan (FW)/Almond (FA) : The star of this recipe is the Butter Pecan, I originally bought this flavor because my girlfriend wanted just a single flavor Butter Pecan. After that it sat around doing nothing until I uncovered it and decided that a Pecan Pie recipe was in order. The Butter Pecan provides an almost caramel pecan with a slight creamy texture underneath. FA's Almond is used to add more complexity to the pecan (inspired by Returnity's Cinapple Fritter) while accenting the nuttiness of the recipe without taking the spotlight away from the Butter Pecan.

Brown Sugar (TFA)/Pie Crust (TFA) : After testing Pie Crust, I decided that I would use it at a low percent because it adds a dryness to a mix very quickly and can carry a bitterness with it which is why I decided to add Brown Sugar to counteract the bitterness in case it carried through while adding that "baked" sugary taste to it.

Caramel (FA)/Vanilla Bourbon (FA)/Vanilla Custard (Cap) : This is the ooie-gooie caramel filling under the top layer of pecans. The Butter Pecan already gave a caramel taste to this recipe so I had to back it up with another Caramel which I decided on FA's because it adds a richness to other caramel flavors. The Vanilla Bourbon and the Custard just create that filling aspect together light but creamy but not a custard. This is why it has to steep a week in full truly, the custard and the caramel are strong with this one before a week or two.

I enjoy this vape with a nice cold glass of milk, which I can't say for many vapes. Definitely not an ADV because I drink more water as a vaper than milk but definitely a treasure to me. Enjoy guys. I'll have some more recipes to come soon.

Here's the recipe on ELR's:

Vaping and milk..love it. Sounds delicious. Bravo.

You should try a tiny batch with Kentucky Bourbon at like .25%. It's an interesting flavor that might be good in this.

I'll order some up and try a batch when I get the chance. I've never really been interested in alcohol vapes but that's just me.

I hear ya. But Kentucky Bourbon (at low %'s) really doesn't taste like alcohol, or bourbon for that matter. It adds...something...to bakery recipes. Particularly ones with nuts or banana. It's a very subtle note that is hard to describe, but it adds a little complexity.

Bingo! It adds complexity and warmth. Makes it tastes like it's fresh out of the oven.

I don't know how that one slipped through the cracks, still haven't fixed it thanks for reminding me though it looks good.

Lol, right on. I'd be interested in how it is. I was mixing up some Pecan Pie with FLV's new offerings, so I was interested to see what other people had come up with. It doesn't look like he's gotten any real feedback on it yet so was interested in what you thought. This one looks like kind of a hidden gem though. Missing some of the ingredients otherwise I'd give it a go.

Looks great. I have been trying to work Butter Pecan into a recipe for a while. I haven't come up with anything better than ok. Looking at your recipe, I may have been over flavoring. It kept coming off metallic. Off to order Pie Crust. Thanks.

I almost would say lower it, I might do that later because it's very strong for a Flavor West flavor. It needs more nuttiness to truly shine though, backed up by AP, or another nut it can be golden.

Try it at 2.5 or 2 maybe if it comes off too strong to you. My palate changes with it a lot, but I can taste it heavily in a mix at 2-3%

I just threw out 100ml of butter pecan (FW) because I could never find anything to use it in -_- Now I am sad!

Don't feel bad, I'm pretty sure Pecan Pie is the only thing it's good for. Maybe a Butter Pecan Ice Cream but I don't really enjoy that flavor profile as much though I'll probably touch on it so I can use the bottle.

But this actually sounds good. I tried maybe 6 different recipes. I wonder if Graham Cracker Crust would replace Pie Crust. I think I still have a little 8ml vial of Butter Pecan from my testing.

Do you mean Cheesecake (Graham Crust) by TFA?

If so, try it at the same percentages. Honestly, it may come out better because I enjoy Cheesecake (Graham Crust) by TFA more than Pie Crust by them.

Well I gave it a nice long sleep and now I am very impressed buttery sweet tastes exactly like the Great Cookie. I have to admit I snuck into it a couple of times I have to admit I snuck into it a couple of times and it definitely needs that two weeks to let the butter pecan come all the way out. I do feel it's missing a little cinnamon to round out the complexity next time I'll try adding a drop of Rich cinnamon but definitely going to be mixing this one up again.

A drop of Rich Cinnamon or a dilution?
