Hi, so a few days ago i mixed up a few PET bottles of juice using TFA Ripe Banana EM and Ripe Strawberry. They got a bit cloudy so i decided that i will google it. Quick google told me that it may be the Ripe Banana flavour causing the bottles to melt from within. They have been sitting there nicely and i am wondering about dumping it. Can anyone confirm ?
I would get rid of it if you do not feel comfortable. I am not a chemistry major or a chemist.
Most people will say it is the Ethyl Alcohol in TFA Ripe Banana that is eating the PET but according to a General Chemical Resistance of PET Products that it is most likely the Iso-Amyl Acetate.

Isoamyl acetate, also known as isopentyl acetate, is an organic compound that is the ester formed from isoamyl alcohol and acetic acid. It is a colorless liquid that is only slightly soluble in water, but very soluble in most organic solvents.
Keywords: Acetic Acid is rated at a 2 when at a 10-40% concentration and may have a significant chance of failure.

TL;DR: Do not put TFA Ripe Banana in PET bottles. Glass preferred.

Wow thanks, i didn't think that someone would put so much work to answer my question. Anyway i have thrown out the juice with tears in my eyes, and i think that i will stick to glass for a while now. Using plastic just seems inefficient ,if it comes to checking if given aroma is not going to melt my lungs after being kept in plastic bottle.
Is LDPE safe?
Generally, if you are asking about TFA Ripe Banana and the composition it has. With TFA Ripe Banana at 22% its rated at A-Excellent (Acetic Acid 20% A-Excellent) which is substantially better than PET Plastic bottles.
Better safe than sorry use a glass bottle.
Ripe banana is death to plastic wear. PET should be fine, probably better off with LDPE. Also I'd advise for strawberry banana using TFA Banana cream. I've worked on that flavor for probably 6 months. Ripe banana melted the writing off my syringe in front of my eyes, I got away from it bc it's too strong. You can use it as a booster for banana cream at like .5-1% but I'd recommend using another banana.
I use Ripe Banana because I have not found a suitable replacement. But I use it at .25% - .50%. It's even a little too much for a shake and vape, best give it a few days to settle down. Have used PET, LDPE and had no issues but I prefer glass. I have handed out about a dozen bottles for my friends to sample and nobody had any issues, all came back for more. That's when I switch to glass. So, for samples I use plastic, 30 mls just use glass. That said, I would throw out a mix if it turned cloudy and wouldn't clear up. Not worth saving.
