I've always mixed with 50/50 nic base, but recently purchased some VG base nicotine. Nothing I've mixed with it has tasted right. Using the same recipes with the same calculator. I've adjust the ratio for the nic in the calc. I've made sure I'm mixing to the same final PG/VG ratio. I shake everything really well when I mix, I shake everything well after I mix, and I've let one mix steep for a month with the same result. It's like everything comes out with the flavor weak and the bases too strong. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Could be bad nic. I had that recently. Got some CarolinaXtract in the mail late last week...Damn, I'm hooked.
Liquid Barn US Select here. I wouldn't expect it to be bad, and I've been getting the same results since I received it. I'm going to switch back to my original, but I don't want to waste this bottle that I have.
I've had 2 bottles of that. First, 48mg 100% PG was great...second, 100mg 100% VG was harsh over 2mg/ml.
It's very hard to mix VG base nicotine. You could easily be hitting hot and cold spots in the base, where you're getting hardly any or way too much nicotine.
I haven't felt like I've gotten too much nicotine, and I can only tell if I'm not getting enough when I get cranky and impatient, lol. I shook the holy hell out of it last time I used it... That would be the remedy for hot spots, yes? I could throw it on the drill clamp and let it spin for a few minutes.
Spinning it fast will separate it, not mix it. You want to spin it slowly on it's side, or stir it. Shaking VG base won't do much at all.
VG doesn't carry flavor as well as PG. You can try bumping all the percentages in your recipes up a little bit, like 0.5-1% and see if that gets it over the hump.
