This recipe is something I whipped up real quick one day, just to mess around with Shisha Strawberry, everybody says how it has jammy notes to it, so I figured it would be perfect to combine with waffle, something I haven't messed with too much. I've only let it steep for around 3 days, but I feel like its basically at its full potential, and it's delicious. I feel like this is the first recipe I've made that really wow'd me, so I figured I would share it.
Waffle with Strawberry Jam| % ---|--- Waffle (Belgian) TPA | 7% Shisha Strawberry INW | 3% Strawberry (Ripe) TPA | 4% Bavarian Cream TPA | 1% Cream Fresh FA | 1% Meringue FA | 1% Custard FA | 1% Dragonfruit TPA | .5% Fuji FA | .5% Acetyl Pyrazine 5% | .5%
Base
Belgian waffle is so good, and I just wanted to make something great with it, I usually pair it with Bavarian Cream just for that syrupy creamy goodness. Acetyl brings out some buttery notes of the waffle, and Meringue adds a light sweetness, almost like sprinkling sugar on top of the waffle.
The Jam
Like I said before, Shisha already is pretty jammy, so I figured it would work perfectly. I added cream fresh, because frankly I love the mouthfeel of it, and I feel like it pairs nicely with the jam. I haven't made this without the Strawberry Ripe, but with the Fuji and Dragonfruit to bring out the background notes, I feel like it might add a slight almost sour taste with the jam. Custard is something I don't have too much experience with, but I felt like it would fit in with this, maybe adding a bit more fullness to the jam.
Like I said before, this was my first attempt at this flavor, so if anybody wants to tweak it or play around with it, feel free. I would love to hear some feedback on it, and what kind of modifications people would suggest to it.
Think I may need to get some waffle and shisha strawberry. Sounds like waffle may be that maple type taste I'm hoping for with the maple donut recipe I've been working on.
Shish is the only strawberry I've actually been able to taste. It's freaking delicious too. Also there's a maple syrup flavor I believe if you haven't seen that before.
I am glad I am not alone with this... I almost gave up with Strawberry till I got INWA's Shish!
I've never had TFA's Belgian Waffle, only the regular waffle, which is also an excellent flavor. I have a waffle recipe that is a mainstay for me, almost always have a bottle of it in my pocket.
have you ever had the non belgian version? what are your thoughts of comparison between them if so.
Do please share your waffle recipe if you please always looking for recipes with waffle and Belgian waffle I have both.
My waffle recipe is constantly changing because I am too indecisive to decide how i like it best, but I can give you a little rundown and sample recipe of how i use TFA Waffle.
I always found that Waffle at high percentages would sort of overpower (feels really dark and heavier than i want by itself in high percentages) all of the other flavors i put in with it, so I try to "stretch out" the waffle flavor by adding some other flavors to it that go with the waffle flavor to tone it down, but still maintain its awesome buttery deliciousness. so a sort of sample recipe for me would be
Raspberry Waffle
Waffle TFA- 5.5%
Harvest Berry CAP- 3%
Vanilla Swirl TFA- 2.5%
Sugar Cookie CAP- 1.5%
Graham Cracker Clear TFA- 1.5%
Raspberry INW- .75%
Joy FA- .5%
AP 5% TFA- .5%
Waffle INW- 1 drop per 30ml (or make a dilution and be more precise if you like)
But something like that is usually where i go, the Sugar Cookie, Graham Cracker Clear, and Vanilla swirl help to lighten the flavor and contribute to what I'm calling "stretching out" that Waffle flavor so its not as dark and heavy, but still maintaining the overall feel of Waffle. Can go tons of directions with this flavor as far as additions to bring out what you want in the flavor.
If you want to try to impart a fresh, warm waffle flavor, try INW waffle at 0.05%.
I'd recommend FLV Strawberry for the jammy note.
I've never tried it, I ordered shisha as I have never really truly tasted strawberry in my mixes, and I heard it was good. Like I said, feel free to mess around with the percentages and ingredients, whatever fits your pallet, everybody's tastebuds are different. I'm intrigued on what people would adapt in this mix, and changes.
