So, once again i am faced with a dilemma. To me TPA Pineapple is the best pineapple out there. Period. All others I've tried (a LOT of them) are either meh, or straight up taste like burnt rubber and rotted fruit. However, there is always a "but".
As is, i find tpa pineapple optimal flavor to be around 4%. Here you get a juicy, sour, tangy pineapple that i am looking for. And here is the "but" part. It fucks with my throat like nobody's business. It's a weird feeling, sort of tingly and scratchy and harsh. I find it to have the same effect even in small quantities, even 1.5%.
I am gutted. I simply can't find another pineapple that could stand up to it flavor-wise, have the same flavor qualities i am looking for, and also i can't use it because of the unbearable throat-hit. Have you had same experiences? Does anyone have an explanation for this?
Burnt rubber and rotted fruit - Ah, I see you've tried FA Pineapple, too. That stuff tastes like a moldy old pineapple came to life Frosty-the-Snowman-style, gorged itself on green onions, and then got run over by my ex-wife driving my truck that she stole in the divorce. Except that instead of plowing straight though it at 7000 rpms like she did my net worth, she slammed on the brakes 50 feet from the abomination and skidded the tires bald on her way to turning it into a rotten pineapple-scallion roadkill smear. Like, what the fuck FA?!
But have you tried INW Pineapple? I get juicy, sour, tangy, perfect pineapple with the added bonuses of zero harshness, not steamrolling over everything you mix it with, and not tasting like pineapple candy if you over do it a little.
Best description of a flavor I've seen..
Yeah, if only I could write good recipes as well as I write descriptions of bad flavors and mixing fails. Sigh.
that is the most fantastically correct statement that i have seen in a long while :D FA pineapple is a weird bastard. I myself taste what you described, but on the other hand my wife thinks that it is one of the most accurate flavors out there. go figure. guess i should file a divorce :D
Also, just saw that TPA now also offers Pineapple Juicy. Anyone have experience with that one?
That seems like a brand new or very unused flavor. Only thing I could find was 1 note on ELR: "not bad".
If you compare the volatiles, it's very different, has a lot of vanilla:
The both have a good amount of Ethyl caproate and Hexanoate/Heptanoate so the main pineapple note should be somewhat the same, only differently balanced. The amount of vanilla is weird though.
The Ethyl butyrate from Pineapple (>= 10% and < 50%) has been taken down in Pineapple Juicy (>= 1% and < 5%), so that should save your throat some bit. Ethyl butyrate does not sit well for my lungs either.
edit: Part of the actual pineapple flavor, Ethyl caproate, is an irritant too. Source (in German). It seems to be lowered a bit in juicy version. (>=1% and <10%) to (>=1% and <5%)
edit2:
PS. fuck TPA for inconsistent volatile names in different products.
142-19-8 = Heptanoate (Pineapple) / Hexanoate (Pineapple juicy)
105-54-4 = Ethyl butyrate (Pineapple) / Butanoic acid, ethyl ester (Pineapple juicy)
wow, did not expect a so in-depth answer. thanks a lot man! Just ordered a bottle, will test it out. hopefully it will solve the problem without changing the flavor a whole bunch
Pineapple, mostly tpa, makes me cough violently on the exhale. Which would be ok but for one thing.
Any of you older mothers with multiple children haven any idea what I'm referring to? Lmao?
Edit: can't type
TPA Pineapple is my favorite pineapple. I agree with others. When you get the pineapple juicy, please do a flavor comparison. I hope it has the juicy pineapple has the taste you are looking for without the harshness.
im glad to see that im not the only one with this experience involving pineapple, pls report back op!
2% CAP Golden Pineapple + 1% TFA Pineapple was good for me. I agree on the harshness of TFA Pineapple., but the flavor is still there for me at lower percentages, I add the CAP Golden Pineapple for a boost. You could try 0.5% TFA + 2,5% CAP?
Cap pineapple is alright, it is one of the few that doesn't have an off-taste. However to me it's super week, gets bogged down by other flavors and just doesn't have the bite i'm looking for
OK just to clear some things out.
1)Do you experience itching around ears, lips, tongue or throat?
- Any swelling even just a little anywhere on your torso or facial regions?
I feel the same way. I like no other pineapple flavoring that I've tried to date... and TFA Pineapple is a bit harsh. Vaping at max VG tends to help with throat irritation. I imagine the irritation is caused by high acidity or whatever quality it has that eats through plastic.
There was some very positive discussion of HS Pineapple and CAP Golden Pineapple a couple of nights back. I ordered both based on the enthusiasm. /u/KrillinGetsOwned have you tried either of those?
Yeah i use CAP Golden Pineapple quite a lot actually. To me it has a really weak flavor, but i use it to accentuate the other fruits more then anything. Haven't really tried any of the HS flavors. I hear they'r good, but the availability is a bit of an issue for me (EU)
INW Pineapple is freaking delicious! And it works at 5-10%. Trust me. I had been working on a pineapple vape using INW Pineapple for a long time and then tried TFA Pineapple on the recommendation of someone else here. Can't stand the TFA version, it's got a very unpleasant "bite" to it as you mentioned.
Seriously, INW Pineapple takes on whole new dimensions when you mix it at 2%, 5%, and even up to 8%. Not only does it work at those percentages but it takes on whole new flavors.
