In an effort to put an end to the continuous storage (storing) question threads, I decided to try to consolidate the storage best practices all into one thread. These have been talked about to death, and personally, I'm too lazy to search about to find answers to link to for people so I'll just add all the best practices here. I'm hoping this thread will work as a reference in the future, there's not much (or any) new content here, but my hope is that if someone searches "storage", "storing", "how to store", "nicotine", "flavors", "propylene glycol (pg)", "vegetable glycerin (vg)" in the search bar, this will pop up.
Please note that all of the steps and options I am outlining below are BEST PRACTICES, not requirements. All products (nicotine, flavors, PG and VG) maintain a shelf life of roughly 12 months if stored in a dark location at room temperature without excessive exposure to oxygen.
NICOTINE
Original Post Slightly Modified - Ok, now you have received your order of nicotine, you have tested it to be accurate, it's clear and clean and ready for use. If you ordered more than a 30 day supply, follow the best practice below to ensure you maintain the highest quality.
Nicotine is primarily degraded by heat, light, and oxygen. Eliminating any of these 3 is good, but eliminating all of them is even better. If you follow the nicotine storage instructions below, you can expect your nicotine to last 5+ years (my longest bottle is now just over 4 years old and is perfect).
First things first, you want to break down your order of nicotine into two categories. The amount of nicotine you will consume over the next 30 days, and all the rest. Some will also advocate diluting your nicotine at this stage (to something under 60mg/ml) which I have no argument with as it should slow the degradation of nicotine, however, I personally don't believe it matters as long as you follow ALL of the steps below.
Whatever you are consuming in the next 30 days, place in an amber glass bottle, dropper top discouraged but can be used (polycone cap is preferred). Place this container in a cool dark place, kitchen cabinets work great, if you tend not to run A/C in hot summers, consider placing it in your fridge instead. LABEL THIS BOTTLE AS TOXIC/POISON/NICOTINE so that you don't have any mishaps with drunk friends...If you do utilize the refrigerator, make sure your solution comes to room temperature (take it out ~24 hours before you mix) and make sure it's thoroughly mixed before using.
Place the rest of your nicotine solution in amber glass bottles in 30 day supply sizes. IE, don't put it in 250ml bottles if you only use 30ml a month. We want to minimize the exposure to oxygen as much as possible and this means we don't want to be opening and closing the same bottle. Once you have that quantity broken down into amber glass bottles, label them all with the date received and vendor received from (batch if desired), once again, label as poison/toxic/nicotine etc.
You want to fill these bottles as high as possible to allow for a minimum amount of oxygen in the bottle once sealed. If you aren't filling to the brim you can use an argon wine preserver like this one in order to eliminate the excess oxygen in the bottle. Follow the instructions on the bottle.
Seal your nicotine bottles for storage (just caps or caps + argon), place in a brown paper bag, and place them in the freezer. Remove one bottle at a time as needed. Try not to place them on the door or near the ice maker to avoid excess agitation. Polycone caps are preferred for all long term nicotine storage.
Nude Nicotine offers Nude Armor nicotine that is already prepped for long term frozen storage. I have no first hand knowledge of this product.
FLAVORS
Store your flavors in a cool (room temp or slightly below) dark place. Refrigeration is an option but some compounds can crystallize if stored around or below ~40F. If you do chose to store your flavors in the refrigerator be sure to let them come to room temperature and then mix thoroughly before use. Standard best practice is to store them in a cabinet/box, or anywhere outside of exposure to excessive light. Do not store in the freezer.
VEGETABLE GLYCERIN (VG)
Same storage recommendations as flavors, however, if you are truly looking to stock up on VG (no idea why as it will always be available) you can store in the freezer using similar methods as nicotine for maximum shelf life.
PROPYLENE GLYCOL (PG)
Same storage recommendations as Vegetable Glycerin (VG).

Thanks for consolidating everything in one spot. As someone who's just ordered the first bits of their DIY supplies, and found VG/PG are cheaper by the gallon, who doesn't own or use AC, this is good info.
I've yet to decide on a nicotine vendor, but I'm leaning towards Nude, because according to abdada's 90 day formula, I only need nic at 22.5mg/ml strength, and they both carry low concentration and smaller bottles. I'm willing to pay a little extra if I can simply toss a bunch of factory sealed 120ml bottles of nic in my freezer and not have to futz with transferring anything. However, that will depend on how good their sample is. Carolina Extract looks like the gold standard, and I'm also looking into VapersTek nic. Both of those however, will be in large bottles, and much stronger concentrations of nicotine, so transfers will be required.
Thanks again for the info, and one of my first recipes will be your key lime pie, I'll let you know how it goes.
Here is a good source for amber bottles...well, any bottles really. I'll be getting these for my flavors to transfer over to for long term since I ordered fairly large quantities because Nicotine River had a FA 15% sale.

$0.37 each, and cheaper if you buy the lots.
Is there any reason to choose one companies vg/pg over anothers? I know the nicotine you want a good source but can i hit ebay? They have 500ml of pg and 500ml vg for like 18 shipped priority mail
For small amounts just order it with your flavors. When you are ready for gallon sizes, Essential Depot and Bulk Apothecary are good sources.
I avoid the drug store offerings.
YMMV, but my experience with vaping & e-juice supplies from eBay has been entirely disappointing. Amazon is not much better. Stick with the known vendors and you won't be sorry.

Doesn't Amazon sell essential depot?
Great info to have out there, should be added to the sidebar if it isn't already.
I was sort of hoping to come in here and see some storage solutions for flavorings though if I'm being honest :P The big ass plastic container with like five drawers I use is getting to be pretty cramped..
In woodworking, we put marbles in our bottles of fluids to fill them to the top to reduce the air in the bottle. Do you think there would be any negative reason to do this with nicotine when combined with the argon spray?
Is there any reason not to store nicotine in the freezer?
You don't want your kids to think it's ice cream? You live in a dorm and don't have a freezer? You're too lazy to take it out and let it thaw when you finish off the bottle before that.
I have a question someone here might know... Ever since I had nic oxidize on me I've been storing my nic in the freezer and pulling 30 day supplies from it (using nude nic armor v2). Every time I grab the bottle it seems to have some small buildup of frost or condensation on the outside. If this is true for the outside, can it be possible to form condensation on the inside too? And if that's the case I'd have to assume my nic is mixing with water, no? Should I just be storing my nic in the fridge instead if I am to keep pulling from it every 30 days or so?
>Store your flavors in a cool (room temp or slightly below) dark place.
Sorry to be a stickler but what's the cut off for room temperature? My place does not have AC and it's summer now. My mixing room is not super hot.. I don't break a sweat or anything when I'm in it but it's also not cool. Guessing around 20-23 Celsius (or 68 - 73.4 Fahrenheit). Is that ok?
