Trying my chances to see if this is a similar situation to some people not being able to taste strawberry or taste some custard/creams as black peppery.
I find most caramel flavorings disgusting and I have tried a lot of them. I can't really describe the off-taste except that it is some sorta organic-rotten-dirty smell, and most of the time I can get the delicious caramel notes at the end of the vape once this terrible smell has dissipated. There are some caramel flavors that I have tried which don't have the off-taste but all of them (except one) is lackluster and faint. The flavors I have tested:
- TFA Caramel (Original I think): Strong off taste
- TFA Caramel Candy: Does not have the off-taste for me but not very caramelish either
- FW Salted Caramel: off-taste
- FW Caramel Candy: off-taste
- Cap Caramel v1: This has the off taste somewhat weaker but still ruins it for me.
- FLV Caramel: Has the off-taste in somewhat workable/hideable amount but still has it.
- FA Caramel: Does not have the off-taste but I can hardly taste any caramel
- Molinberry Caramel: Does not have the off-taste, but not a tasty caramel, sorta thin
- MF Caramel: Does not have the off-taste, and a good caramel
- INW Caramel: No off taste, no good taste either
I also find some popular juices like Grandmaster, Boss Reserve, Gambit etc. unvapable because of the off-caramel taste.
Just wondering if anyone has similar experience.
I'm in the same boat. I've had many requests for a caramel vape, but I cannot stand the smell or taste of it. In turn, I can't even start to work on a recipe for it.
I love caramel though.
Here's a recipe I've been working on. If you happen to have the stuff on hand I'd say it's worth a try
5% Caramel (TPA)
1.5% Caramel Candy (TPA)
1.5% Catalan Cream (FA)
1.5% Cookie (Biscotto) (FA)
Edit: if anyone does make it I would appreciate feed back either here or via PM. Thanks!
Yeah, I always get a burning-rubber note from caramel flavors.
Absolutely. I use tfa and even at 1% it is just STRONG. over powers the other stuff. Friend said use it for a sweetner instead of an actual sweetner. Also been to to use marshmallow. Sweetner are supposedly bad on coils.
I'm new. To REDDIT and DIY (6 months). Reddit....I'm finally learning. Don't know how to follow someone yet.
I have so many caramel flavors in hope I would be able to vape something with caramel. I love actual caramel but the vaping it is another story. I've tried all the big name caramel juices and plenty of lesser knowns and they were pretty much all disgusting to me. I have recently started vaping on some Ono from 63 Maui and it's grapefruit and caramel, foob it was meh but now that it's steeped a couple of weeks it's quite nice.
For what it's worth I also have strawberry blindness as in every time I taste a strawberry cream vape (and some other combos but not all) all I can actually taste is harshness and disgusting melting plastic.
So I've been working on a caramel-topped banana milkshake recipe for a while now and although it's still not great I made the caramel pop by using a mixture of FW's Butterscotch Ripple and FA's caramel, as well as all the creams I needed to make the milkshake. So maybe try mixing in some butterscotch :)
I use TFA Caramel, but it gets kind of weird above 2% and is really strong. There aren't many things I can say it goes well with though.
TFA Caramel or original?
