I just took the dive...thanks to you guys!
submitted over 9 years ago by OfBlinkingThings

I spent a LOT of time with the search bar since I didn't want to inundate you guys with noobish questions. I ordered everything I need to get started this morning.

Thanks for all the knowledge accumulated here. It was an easy process when so many nice people have shared information.

I must say that this is a tidy sub chock full of great content. That's a testament to the mods and the users.

I can't wait to mix my first batch and talk it over with everyone here.

Thank you for making use of the sidebar. I think it feels neglected sometimes.

No clue why you got down voted

It happens. I don't even notice. There are some salty-ass motherfuckers lurking around here who can't be fucked to follow the rules, because it's easier to call the sub's contributors elitist assholes or whatever. So that's probably where it's coming from.

Edit: Either that or someone assumed I was being sarcastic. Which I am, often, but I clearly label my sarcasm as such.

Anyone who gets noticed on here gets downvoted. It usually evens itself out after a while.

There's an anti-sidebar cartel that feels that the community is best served by re-answering every new mixer question in individual threads rather than in the new mixer threads or by reading through the sidebar.

They feel that taking initiative and reading the sidebar or posting questions where they go, in an effort to keep the sub neat, organized and informational is somehow too burdensome.

After all, everybody knows the posters and mods are getting paid for their time and effort here, right? :)

I ordered everything on Friday, it's out for delivery right now! I put this off for a long time. Can't wait. I input the prices I paid for all my ingredients into a calculator and it came out to $1.13 for 60 ml. Crazy...I've been paying a lot more than that lol.

Here's a tip: if you're using syringes wrap them in some cello tape (I don't know what it is called in america, scotch tape?). Anyway, the clear stuff. It will help preserve the measurements on your syringes which can rub off with repeated use and washing. Theyre not expensive but it helps.

I will piggy back on this post. I took my first tentative steps into DIY world myself this weekend. Played it safe and went for a well established recipe. Made myself 60 ml of juice that would have cost me $30 plus shipping for 1/10th of the price. I will be whipping up a few other recipes that have caught my eye and then try to make one of my own, a Lychee Soju e-juice.

If I can figure it out, yes sure. Got to get my basics right first.
