Does anyone know if something along the lines of a local learn-to-DIY course has ever been attempted? It seems to me (as someone who has never DIY'ed but had been considering it and is now going to try it), that this type of a course or program might be both fun and interesting. I know there are a lot of YouTube videos explaining how to do this, but I personally learn better in a classroom type setting.
Sorry if this is against the rules of this sub.
Also, I'm in Chicago if anyone wants to put something together, I might be willing to host such a meet-up.
Why can't there be a diy Skype group chat or any other form of group chat and video or audio to teach new mixers about different things. Sort of like a cooking class but with the technology of online!
Not in Chicago unfortunately but I'd be happy to set this up in SoCal!
Bummer for me, but maybe someone else could benefit from this. I've been half perusing the DIY start up kits in the sidebar wondering if I should just take the leap and see if I don't mess it up too much by just doing it on my own.
I would still appreciate the know how and work of someone showing me how to do it and walking me through everything.
LPT: Don't buy a kit. Here is my advice
Give it a month, there's gonna be 18-20 year olds all over making juice in Cali.
Or you know they'll get their older friends that are actually 21 to just go buy juice for them. Just like I was doing with cigarettes when I was a minor. Addictions don't change only the ways to get them.
I think this is a great idea. I'd love to teach some people to mix so they can learn how easy and delicious it can be. With taste being so subjective, being able to craft your own flavors and have any flavor you want, any time you want, is incredible. I'd post in my local vaping facebook group but it's like 50% juice vendors/B&Ms and IDK how well that would go over, LOL!
Slack is a great idea. I wanted to do a hangout for mixing but mostly we get together on skype in smaller groups. We mix and share ideas and make collaborative recipes. Created this about a year ago but fearing getting messy I have never promoted it. diy....slack.com and a related FB group that is now private. Very small and selective for the same reasons that Reddit DIY has had issues. No hand checks, vapemail mail, and a mandatory rule following....
Send me Bears gear and I'll help you all you need ;)
Gross! I just live here, I never gave up my allegiances (GO LIONS! - Oh wait we suck again...) But if you know of anyone or a few people who would be interested in putting together a DIY course in Chicago let me know, I'd be down for attending / hosting (I can't really teach it since I don't know what I am doing).
I learned the most getting together on skype or google and sharing and collaborating. Pm me I can give you some links to good places to find great help online?(this sub being the best for info). Happy to help you. Since we do a weekly hangout would be no problem. GO BEARS! ;)
