Making e-juice from home ingredients - and getting a throat hit.
submitted over 9 years ago by tk338

Hi guys.

I hope this post is allowed. I've been scouring the internet more and more as my next batch of juice does not get delivered - not even posted! But I can't seem to get any concrete answers.

Long story short I live an hour and a half from the nearest vape shop, and they close an hour after I finish from work. The internet is my only option here - my mistake, won't let it happen again!

Now I have bought some USP grade Glycerin from a chemist, but I know from trying it when mixing before, that there is 0 throat hit. With no access to nicotine is there any way I can achieve a bit of a throat hit from it? Nicotine I have accepted is not going to happen at this stage, but I'm on 3mg now and I figure as long as I can get some satisfaction from it, I will make it through, at least see me until my next batch arrives.

For bonus points are there any food flavorings or something I could buy in a small town in the middle of nowhere that would give me a bit of flavour?

Find the list of safe Lorann's flavorings to vape, walmart carries some of those, check local grocery stores or any place with a candy/cake section. As far as throat hit, I'd say try vodka like abdada said.

Many convenience stores carry really vheap albeit nasty juice for like $4. Buy the highest nic you can find and dilute it as much as you can to see if its acceptable in a pinch. 24mg/ml should be available and if it you dilute the 10 ml to 40 ml I think it makes it 6mg/ml but check my math.

3% distilled water and increase percentage slowly until you get some throat hit. Vodka also. In tiny amounts.

I'll get hold of some tomorrow, thank you!

There seemed to be a fair amount of controversy around it on the net, but anything is worth a try at this point!

Honestly call 7-Eleven or whatever liquor and smoke shop you have and ask if they sell ecig liquid. Many do.

Blu sells eliquid now.

Let just say its not my first time making my mistake, but before when I made it I was living near a lot of friends who vaped - now I unfortunately do not. When I last tried those kind of mixes they were not a pleasant vape.

Thats said, I'll give blu a try, seems there are a few near me, but 12mg or 24mg would kill me. I can try and blend it with the glycerin I bought I guess. I'd get my nicotine too! Thank you for your advice!

Distilling water is no harder than boiling it, not sure why people ever buy it.

It's pretty cheap and also because distilling water is not just boiling it.

It's significantly harder than boiling it, and when I can get a gallon for about $.60 why would I bother?

Try a higher PG blend, it can create a slight throat hit.

Or distilled water works in very small percentages sometimes. (1-3%)

I read that caffeine can be used to mimic the throat hit, but neither do I know if you are able to get your hands on some, nor do i have any idea about the correct dose.

You might be able to find some Lorann's food flavorings or something similar at your local super walmart or pastry shop. You want to try to stay away from any flavorings that have added food coloring, sugars, or things of the like.

What kind of Glycerin? Vegatable?

Throat hit is mostly achieved with Nic and Propylene Glycol. Vegatable Glycerin is more like filler to thicken juice.

Off the shelf regular food flavoring should not be used. We habe no idea what they are made off, and since they are strickly for ingestion, they are loaded with diacytel or other undesirable chems. Now, it wont kill you, but no one buy MacCormacks and vapes it because it just really a bad choice. Stick to TPA, FA , etc. EVEN Loranns has a big "no not vape these flavors because of oils or bad stuff in them". Some of their flavors are ok, a whole lot are not. Its better to buy flavors designed for vaping or at the least, tested or have the MDS5 sheets available which is a molecule/chemical breakdown of how the flavor was made. The better flovor companies post these on their site (TPA for instance)

As for Diacytel, some will say is of little, concern, others like me will always do my best to avoid it. The thing is, even the people who say its of little concered are onky saying that because we have, over the years, really vetted the flavor companies and we are not overly concerned about them or their levels. McCormack vanilla or peppermint flavors from the gocery could be fucking loaded with bad chemicals and I think we all can agree that vaping unknowns is a very bad thing. Also, dont vape oils. They can be dangerous.
