Hey guys, long time lurker and first time poster. So I've been making juice for about 9 months now and have learned everything I know from you guys. So I want to start out by thanking all of you for helping people like me in the community.
Now for what happened today: When I first started DIY, I read the sidebar about a thousand times and bought stuff for recipes that i thought I would like. However: I was mixing by drops instead of by volume or weight! (because 16g needles don't fit in the tip of my concentrate bottles lol) I've since gotten a scale and mix everything by weight, which works very well. One of the first recipes I made on my own was a Vanilla Custard and boy was it good. My whole family vapes it now. The only problem was that I only knew how many drops to put in it, not percentages. Today I cranked out the math and found out how much flavoring was actually in my juice. The percentages were less than half of what I thought they were when I was mixing by drops!
The lesson in this whole post: Listen to all of the suggestions you hear on this forum. It leads to better juice and a better vaping experience. If you think the people posting are just cranky assholes: get over it
I'm relatively new to DIY as well and did the same with TFA raspberry (still not sure if it's the sweet version or not). I put in 20 drops which I assumed was 1ml, to make 3% and it tasted pretty damn good on its own. I then realised I had only used actually 1.5% the next time I made more and measured with a pipette. Funnily enough I quite enjoyed the low % flavour on its own.
It might taste fine as a shake and vape but after steeping you'll notice a difference. Especially when mixing flavors together
Yeah true that, my original mix I put some lemonade and blueberry and after the initial shake it was way too tart and bitter. A few days later it's nice and vapeable but still needs a fine tuning. I love a raspberry + peach taste so I'll probably make a blue voodoo clone next.

It never occurred to you to take the top off of the concentrate bottle like you would a juice bottle?
Or an I misunderstanding?
Good that you solved your problem though :)
The funny part is that you understood perfectly well. I tried to, but the tip caps were on really tight and I didn't want to spill concentrates all over my desk.
