Ejuice-Brand logo/label
submitted over 9 years ago by Psyshadow117

Hi guys

I am still (very much so) a beginner when it comes to diy, but I've found it slowly but surely becoming more of a hobby than what I've originally wanted it to be (a way to decrease the cost of vaping).

Now - I don't plan on starting my own ejuice company in any way (there are way too strict regulations in my country, and I neither have the time nor the experience for doing so), but I've always liked to muck about in Photoshop/Illustrator. So here is my first attempt at a ejuice logo/label.

What do you guys think?

EDIT: Current version

EDIT2: More Current version

EDIT3: Alternate 1, Alternate 2, Alternate 3

NEXT EDIT: These are the two versions I'm currently at: Crossbar, Swish

I've also thought about these: Crossbar, Swish

I want to thank all those of you who added their valuable input and will of course continue to add to it, change a few nitpicks here and there and aim to improve it - just like with a good ejuice-recipe, it takes many iterations to arrive at a product that you can be really satisfied with.

Also, what do you guys think about the name?

Personally, I hate using ampersands in any sort of text or graphic design. They're too much of a thing on their own and are typically distracting unless your typeface is extremely minimalistic.

You have something very simple and linear and clean by using that serif font. Ditch the ampersand and actually use the word "and." See if you like that a bit better. No mixture of font style, but I would suggest making the flavour names match the colour of the little paint swatch graphic. That will allow the text to sort of separate from one another.

Oh and also, don't fuck with the kerning on "rain" in order for it to line up with "heaven," this method works a lot better in editorials where that spacing shift isn't as noticeable. Here, I think it detracts rather than helps.

The Flavor text looks a lot better with the same color as the swish. About the "and" - I'm not so sure about that. What do you think about the "x" as mentioned further down?

Ahhh. The "and" does look a little strange. The x seems to be heading in the right direction. Just a matter of finding the right typeface for it. I would also make sure that the x is small enough to not really be considered another "piece" to the brand name. You don't want a three piece name. You want two words that are accentuated by that x, again, if what I'm saying makes sense at all hahaha.

If you're still messing with this later today, I'll fuck around with it on in design just so it's easier to explain some of the things I'm saying hahaha.

I like what's happening here. My only remaining question is whether /u/abdada or /u/matthewkocanda is going to design my labels. I can't photoshop. Love y'all.

You can use these if you'd like to (noncommercially of course) ;)

That is an awesome offer (thank you) but these are yours and I sell to friends. I do like what you've got going on though, they look great.

How about it /u/abdada ? A little design partnership where we design everyone's labels? Heh

by abdadaover 9 years agoI will rip you a new one if you don't use the sidebar & search.

We can call it fourerr and be one cheaper than fiverr

or elevenerr cuz we go to 11.

As long as it's not called twoerr I think you're good.

I would say that if you end up using something like ALT 1, the X should touch or be smaller than the edges of the crossing line. It bothers me and somehow makes the X look skewed. Try making the X smaller, but not so much that it gets "lost"

I quite like the minimalistic design you've got going on. I thought I'd pitch in and give you my two cents.

*EDIT: Just thought of this, have a go at inverting the colors, background and text but keep the blue. that would probably look cool.

Will do as soon as i return home again :)

What do you think about Alt3?

ALT3 looks good, nice colors but it has that skew effect on the X i was talking about, I don't know it you're able to see it, being the creator and all, but if the X was smaller/ within the "borders" it wouldn't trick the eye and make it look like its been pulled in one leg. (I hope I'm making sense here)

Also I'm noticing the center of the crossing line doesn't quite meet the corners perfectly, bottom right corner looks more "off" than top left, I'm not sure if it'll look worse or better with it perfectly centered.

Now I see it. I just thought you ment the stroke of the x not aligning with the angle of the crossing line. Will update :)

I would temporarily remove the "blueberry vanilla" text and center the "Heaven & Rain" text directly in the middle of the square.

Then add the Blueberry Vanilla description centered in the white space below.

Like this?

I just kind of feel like there still is something off about it. There seems to be too much white space above the "heaven" - but if i make the frame smaller, there is not enough space for the flavor names :/

closer. I would put the bluberry vanilla on one line together and make that font smaller. i'd also nuke the italics for now.

Proudly nuked. Much happier about it now. One issue might be that it could become hard to read on a bottle. Thanks for replying so damn quickly =)

If you were using the same font for 'Heaven Rain' as the flavor title, styled in bold, it would look more coherent. You could also try to use a horizontal blue stripe covering the whole X.

This is the design I've been working on - it's still a work in progress and I will incorporate more cool features soon. I went for a minimal but useful look. The white space on the left will be overglued when you tape it around a bottle.

Preview me, I'm a picture!

Yours looks really clean and nice! I like the circles for the content. Have you tried using Avenir as your font? I think it would fit the minimal look.

On the topic of my fonts: I actually use the same font for the Logotype and for the flavors, it's just that one is the serif version and one the sans serif. I think it helps break up the monotony and make a clear distinction between the logotype and the actual juice.

Yeah, the circles are WIP and will fit warning labels. Warnings will be labeled if certain properties are met - eg. diacetyl et cetera. Background color will match the juice profile.

It also seems like you got a good taste in fonts as it is actually Avenir!

Haha nice - shame on me for not recognizing it though.

A quick recommendation for those looking to have logos/labels designed.

I really like the Swish version! Reminds me of a smear of Repulsion Gel from Portal 2!

It's just my preference, but I like the last crossbar you threw in after the edits.

I like Alternate 3 the best, but I also like the raindrop photo background used in the last two. I think if you used Alternate 3 but replaced the blue stripe with the raindrop photo background, that would be the best. The "Crossbar" samples where the crossbar is on a different angle than the "X" in the middle looks weird -- matching the angle like in Alternate 3 looks much better.
