###THIS IS NOT THE NEW MIXER'S THREAD.
A recent influx of beginner questions has been filling up the modqueue today. I'm not sure where this influx is coming from, but to all of people showing up today to ask their questions:
###WAIT.
Utilize the Weekly New Mixer's Question Thread. If you're afraid the one LINKED IN THE SUBREDDIT BANNER is too old, a new one will be posted in roughly 15 hours. Take that time to acquaint yourself with the rules, and read the links in the sidebar. Search the keywords of the question you're wanting to ask. If it's a question that belongs in the new mixer's thread, it will be deleted, and you will be told you post it in that thread. This sub should not be like a shitty sweater, with threads being removed all day to keep it clean. READ. THE. RULES. They're fairly straight forward. Message the moderators if you need clarification on the rules. It's not that difficult.
Save yourself some time, save the moderators some time,
##USE THE NEW MIXER'S QUESTIONS THREAD.
This is becoming ridiculous. If you're new here, learn the rules before they are taught to you.

Thanks to /u/Vurve for ruining our home, you bastard.
/u/Vurve, maybe include this note in your ECR posts?
I already linked them to the New Mixer and Modest Monday threads in my most recent post.
~~New mixers thread, in the sidebar.~~
Sorry, got in a habit.
Understandable. ~~7~~ posts in the past 4 hours... and one that automod removed that would have been removed anyways. ~~So 8.~~
~~9 posts in 4 hours.~~

Can automod reply to first time posters in a sub?
I'll donate n00dz for automod comment.
I believe they get a message saying that it was deleted for their account being too new. But for those new to the sub, I'm not sure if we can have it message them. Definitely something for /u/inertiacreeping to look into. I'm too busy removing threads, or I would.
All I want to do is "join the Culinary Arts program" on the DIY page. What's wrong with that? Why are so many people bulling and throwing rocks?
-
If this is a private club - then make the whole page private by invite only.
-
I did not just spend $400 this week for the hell of it. - I want to make juice for myself only
-
If this page is full of a bunch of hoity toity Ass**** - then ban me, save me the aggravation.
So, I'm going to try to break this down.
Learning how to DIY takes a lot of reading and research. Your generally use the search bar to find said information. When new people come in asking questions that have answers already, it clogs up the search results.
Think of this place as a library. When people come in asking questions that have answers already, it's the equivalent of going into a library and placing blank books all over the place. How many do you have to go through before you find what you need then?
I don't understand any of what you're saying here.
If you were new to this sub how would these comments come across to you?
If anything, the people in the subreddit have become more polite from when I was a beginner. If I posted a shitty question that was answered in the sidebar, I got my shit tore up. The moderators at least now lock threads or remove them and tell the new person the proper place for their questions, and try to prevent people being just plain mean.
And if they are the type of person to go to a random subreddit, not read anything in the sidebar, not read the rules, or not wait to get a feel for how the subreddit operates and just post the first question that comes to mind within 5 minutes of finding the sub, we don't want them here.
This isn't a subreddit where you are granted a spot and given respect just because you have internet acces and know how to spell DIY. You earn respect and your spot here by working for it, by learning and sharing your knowledge, by contributing to discussion. Think of this place as a college, not a nightclub.
And if you take a moment to go look into the new mixers thread, the same people who are telling you to post in the new mixers thread, (/u/skiddlzninja and /u/abdada) are the same people answering everyone's questions.
They aren't being as big of assholes as you think. They are trying to keep order and preserve the library/college format of this sub.
But but...I'm on mobile
If you're using Alien Blue you can access the sidebar in the same menu as 'open is safari' or 'share'. Hope this helps!
p.s. how good would it be if there was a search function in alien blue
If you are in the sub and you pull down how you would refresh Google, a wild search bar appears in Alien blue.
I use reddit is fun and it took me a few months to realize what a sidebar actually was, but it's easy to get to, and the search button works good too. I always felt like mobile users who give that excuse are just lazy.
So, theres tons of info on it but I am being kinda lazy and my cart is already around 250$.. Soooo.. If I had to go with one apple pie flavoring which should I pick and why? (It will be mainly to build off of to make a muffin man style juice of my own)
I was first thinking of just cap or tfa apple pie (I'd rather stay away from the DX/v2's) but I noticed theres quite a few more apple pie flavorings than I first thought..
I also have most ingredients for botboys awesome apple pie (minus the freggin rich cinnamon cause most Canadian suppliers are out of the loop or overpriced) so I could make that base and go from there too, I was just hoping the community could help save me some trial and error. lol
FA
Lol, Good point. I was about to say, very informative. But then again, it's comming from you. So, I don't really need much info. lol but just for shits, Any tips on working with it that I won't find with a few min on google?
Edit; reworded that to not sound like an ungrateful prick.. (I hope)
I'm compelled to post here because surely I contributed a substantial influx to these recent neophyte q's here!!
SOOOooo, I've got a 120mL bottle of 100mg/ml Nude nicotine in my drawer right now (is refrigeration a concern when dealing in such small quantities? Part of me is thinking I may as well just split it into two and freeze half, I mean i vape 6% so this will make 2L of juice for me!!)
USPS says my BCV order should be here monday, it's a real puny order i got the small 13ml bottles, but got 8 flavors of capella (1 of flavor apprentice) so I could just start trying things out, haven't ordered 'good' VG yet but have USP-graded, store-bought VG from a grocer that i've used for a while to water-down store-bought stuff, never had a problem.
So, in a few days, I should be vaping my own DIY!! Am more excited than I should be lol, just cannot wait to start experimenting here, and to be done paying outrageous prices for comparable (maybe even inferior) store-bought 'premiums'! (I mean really, what can they have out back that's better? I'm expecting my 1st batches to be satisfactory 'comparables', not in terms of flavor-match specificity, just in terms of taste and how good they are... it's mostly custardy, vanilla, cream etc stuff with a couple fruits to toss in for fruit-notes, I imagine everyone thinks this when doing their first order and I constantly read "you'll dislike what you make your first time" but I just cannot fathom how i'll dislike what I make when I like muted/light flavors, custards, and have (amongst)the highest-quality ingredients available, just seems hard to see where my product would be wanting in comparison to the local shops that mix on-site, maybe I'm underestimating them but I just imagine they've got tubs of VG, probably something like nude&capella-type brands, and are just doing exactly what I'm doing - and I've got tons of 'clone recipes' and ordered the most commonly used&liked flavors, just don't see how I can go wrong!!
Thanks for answering my q's in my multiple threads with the patience you did, this community rocks I'm so stoked to (almost - do have Nude in-hand!) be part of it!!
It's grwat that you're excited! But remember your etiquette here even while excited ;) I trust you'll make some great contributions due to your excitement, but until you have your training wheels off, remember your Ps and Qs :)
Will do! I've seen your name enough to know respect is owed for sheer contribution, props man(or woman)! My BCV order came today, instead of the originally-scheduled monday (thnx, BCV &usps!!), so am sitting with my 8 flavors, a sml tub of pharmacy VG, and my 100mg/mL Nude nico, just perusing thread after thread of recipes ('clones' and the like - although i've never tried a mass-produced flavor, surely they're good if they caught on, right!) Will be doing 1st attempts tonight, so excited cannot wait to see how easy (or hard) this really is!
Hi All, by mistake I ordered FA strawberry and not TFA strawberry, I want to make the strawberry shortcake bar recipe by notcharlesmanson but need to know if I can sub the TFA Strawberry with FA strawberry? Original calls for 1.5% TFA Strawberry?
You'll only get an answer from me in this thread(this isn't the new mixer's thread, just me telling people that they need to be using it.) If you post to the actual new mixer's thread(linked in this post and linked at the very top of the subreddit) you'll get more answers.
I'm sure it will work at .5% in place of TFA, but /u/notcharlesmanson would know for sure.
/u/skiddlzninja - Anyway we could get the new mixers thread either more obvious (if I was new to a subreddit or reddit, I would not easily be able to find the banner up top) or like permanently sticky it? I know you only get two stickies, so maybe replace the monthly recipe thread. The people who are likely to post in the new recipe thread know where to find it.
Other thought, maybe make the new mixers thread bi-weekly (as in twice a week). It seems to slow down by like Wednesday or Thursday each week, and then when a new one is posted, there seems to be a crazy influx of posts. I think maybe that a Monday and Thursday post would make it more likely that people use it, they won't feel like their question is getting drowned out in a sea of other people's questions.
I walked by a candy making shop yesterday and noticed they had some flavorings made by Lorann Oils. There were some flavors that I wanted to try out and they were pretty cheap, so I bought some. The guy who sold them said they were safe for vaping, but he works at a candy shop, so I was skeptical.
I looked them up online and most of them aren't sold by the flavor vendors that I've used in the past and there seems to be conflicting information online regarding their safety, but most of it is from years ago.
The flavors I got are:
Cranberry (contains triacetin)
Brandy
Chocolate (contains coloring, so I'm inclined to not use it)
Caramel (contains coloring)
Sparkling Wine, formerly known as champagne (contains triacetin)
Banana Cream (contains coloring)
Keoke Coffee (contains coloring)
Amaretto (contains caprylic triglycerides)
Pineapple (contains triacetin)
I'm thinking that I'm just going to not use the ones that have coloring, since I've read that's not ideal to vape. But what about the other flavors? I'm under the impression that triacetin is fine and triglycerides should be avoided.
there should be a link in the sidebar to a lor ann spreadsheet, I'm on mobile, otherwise I'd link it here.
Thank you. I did a search beforehand to see if I could find an answer and saw that graph. I noticed it was from 2013/2014 and figured there might be more information available. But if that's the most up to date information, then most of my juices fall into the yellow category so I probably won't risk it.
I think this is the spreadsheet that /u/skiddlzninja would have linked if he wasn't on mobile.

Thank you. I did a search for Larann flavors beforehand and saw that, but I noticed that it was from 2013/2014 and figured more information had become available.
Most of the flavors I have fall in the yellow category for different reasons (colors, triglycrides, etc). Is that still the common opinion for all of them, that they may or may not be harmful?
Can I use reconstituted lemon juice over fresh or is it entirely different?
It's subtree brand made is USA, he ingredients are; water, lemon concentrate and sodium bisulfite.
The sodium bisulfite is what scares me.. I think I'll jut go buy a lemon lol
Edit; so who is the butthurt bandit downvoting in the new mixers thread? I could have easily posted it as its own thread instead lol.. I suppose I shouldn't have asked and just used it eh? some people..

Am I wasting resources/time by making things just 15mL at a time? Im inclined to think not, especially because 15mL is a good test size, but j want to nip any bad habits in the bud right away.
-
Also, is a regular plastic unicorn bottle okay for holding liquid nicotine (100mg/mL of PG)?
-
Is this sub the best source for recipes? Is there somewhere I can refine by general taste profile a la JuiceDB?
Thanks!
E: Hey thanks for shitting all over the new guy for asking questions :~]
Nope
NOPE.
In my opinion, yes. There are other resources that are devoted to recipes, but they don't have the dialogue and critique that recipes posted here receive. If you make a recipe posted here, it's going to be a good recipe. If you make a recipe posted to AllTheFlavors, it'll be a good recipe. If you make a recipe posted to e-liquid-recipes.com, there's a 10% chance it's a good recipe.
-
Thank you
-
THANK YOU. So glass dropper bottles are the way to go? Any required tint?
-
I have definitely already given up on ELR, seems like it's open season for anyone to post whatever. And the top rated recipes of all time on there are all on here anyway...
Thanks Skiddlz!
I see EM used in recipes a lot, I know its not sucralose, but what is it named? Is TFA Cotton Candy essentially EM? If not, what companies sell it? Cheers
In Juice Calculator, should I use 1.0 or 1.036 for the weight of my PG flavors?
Everyone ever always says to get everything ever separate to get the lowest price. This leads me to asking whether or not I am missing anything to get going. Amazon List and then the flavor kit Side Note I typically run 100% VG mixes with no nic. I also have boxes of gloves laying around. Oh and bottles, many a bottle of overpriced B&M empties.
Hahaha, you might do better if you posted to the linked thread in the post. Click on "USE THE NEW MIXER'S THREAD" and it should take you there.
Also, you'll have to redo some of the formatting, as your links didn't quite carry over when you copy-pasted ;P
Can I sub Strawberry (TFA) with Strawberry Ripe (TFA) on most Enyawreklaw's Recipes ?
