Got some vapemail from BVC today and mixed up some test batches. Whipped them into shape with the frother, and tried them right away.
- TFA Phillipine Mango at 8% - delicious, sweet mango flavor, fruity, not candy-like, don't see the need for other mangos to complement or enhance it. I'll test at lower percentages to find where it gets thin.
- FLV Sweet Coconut at 2% - very pleasant coconut, not at all like TFA Coconut Extra. I'll test at higher and lower percentages to optimize.
Inspiration hit me and I mixed something I call
Sweet Coco Mango Kool
- 1% Sweet Coconut (FLV)
- 1.5% Koolada (TFA)
- 7% Phillipine Mango (TFA)
Of course I tried it right away, and it seems out of balance, not enough coconut flavor, not cool enough. I'll give it some time, and probably make version 2 next week-end.
I just tried TFA Philippine Mango for the first time yesterday and was very underwhelmed by it, but maybe I ought to give it another try at 8-10% (I tried it at 5%, my usual starting place for TFA flavors unless I've been warned that they are unusually strong or weak). I got a sweet mango-ish flavor and I concur that it was not candy-like, I'd describe it as more of a nectar. But it seemed to be lacking in quite a few ways. It needed more that pungent, tropically earthy taste you get from a mango and it completely lacked the creaminess that mango flesh has. I appreciated that it had a juicy mouthfeel, not dry like some mango flavors have, but there wasn't any of the bright, sharp, or tart notes to it that a mango should have.
INW Mango at 1% has those high tart notes that really backs up TFA Philippine Mango to create a nice rounded out mango taste.
I also tried INW Mango for the first time two days ago and thought it tasted strange and kinda gross by itself. Floral, perfumy at 2%. But can imagine how 0.5 - 1% of it could fill out a couple of the missing elements in Philippine Mango. And vice-versa - Philippine could lend INW some badly needed sweetness. I will try this.
I bought these two flavors because I want to try your Mangringue recipe, by the way.
I'm currently using it at 12% with 2% TFA Cotton Candy and 2 drops surcalose per 10ml. It's my everyday vape
This tells me two things: I need to try it again at 10% to get the full effect, 5% wasn't enough. And, you have a sweet tooth.
FLV sweet coconut is not as in the face as normal coconut, I usually start at 2% in a mix and find it adds a buttery coconut fatness, can bring unwanted extra sweetness, plays well with most all fruits.
5% standalone is a coconut ice bar in eliquid format
I vape gallons of this
- FLV Wild Melon 3%
- FLV Sweet Coconut 2.5%
- TFA VBIC 4%
I'm not familiar with either coconut or mango flavours, they are next on the list of profiles I need to work with (as well as tobacco haha), but I am decent with Koolada.
Try 2.5 - 3% on Koolada. I think you'll get the cooling element you are looking for at those percentages.
