"The Beaches" by Moshi is a strong fruity menthol vape consisting of strawberry, pear, and blueberry which strangely works together very well. This recipe started as a clone for my friend as The Beaches is one of his favourite flavours but he wanted it in a higher VG mix instead of the original 50/50.
I usually stick to bakery and savoury vapes, so this flavour is very much outside my box.
Ingredients | % ---|--- Vegetable Glycerin| 70 Strawberry (ripe) (TPA)| 5 Blueberry Jam (CAP) | 3 Pear (CAP) | 2.35 Menthol Liquid (PG carrier) (TPA) | 1.25 Super Sweet (CAP) | 0.17
While vaping, you first get a taste of the strawberry and the cooling sensation of the menthol. As the cooling settles down the fruity and juicy pear and blueberry flavour linger as well as a little sweetness on the lips. It seems every time I vape this I can pull out the different flavour notes.
I 100% believe a different pear and blueberry flavouring was used in the original but I don't like to ever clone 1:1 :) (If you are looking for the original perhaps try TPA blueberry or blueberry wild, at least that is what I am tasting in it) I haven't tried enough pear flavours to know what pear they may have used.
Strawberry (ripe) (TPA) This flavour is a staple for any diy'er who loves strawberry. For accenting flavours it can be used in low percentages and it also contains EM so you do not have to add sweeteners to your recipes more often then not if you are using strawberry (ripe). To get a more layered or complex strawberry, this flavour should be mixed with other strawberry flavourings as the berry like aspects including the body and tartness is missing. This flavour presents more of a candied strawberry without being overwhelming.
Blueberry Jam (CAP) I am very new to this flavour and received it very recently. At this current percentage, the blueberry is quite subtle but has body. Also at this percentage it does not have any sort of artificial like after taste which I was worried about. I can definitely see use of this for a blueberry syrup base perhaps paired with bilberry and/or blueberry (wild). This flavour could probably never be used as a stand alone.
Pear (CAP) I am quite new to pear flavourings. Pear by Capella seems to leave out any rind or bitter notes of a pear and presents the more smooth like candy aspects of a pear. This flavour tastes more of pear juice rather than an actual pear skin and all.
Super Sweet (CAP) This is a different kind of sweetener for sure. The citric acid and other additives make you perceive it being very sweet. If vaping sugars/additives is a concern for you perhaps drop it out of the recipe all together. The strawberry ripe should provide enough sweetness as is. Even at low percentages (0.10 - 0.20) it is very strong. I recommend to use it sparingly. Still on the fence about using this additive for vaping as there has been concern raised with the preservatives used possibly causing male/female reproductive issues. I would swap this out with TFA sweetener at 0.5% give or take. **edit again ** apparently water has been found in tfa sweetener, guess its best to go and make your own solution!
Feel free adjust the menthol to your liking, as well as the sweetener - or take it out all together!
Out of a tank the menthol can be too much for some people, perhaps tone it down if you are using sub ohm tank. Although on a dripper its enjoyable for me, and I usually do not enjoy menthol vapes.
Super Sweet is 20% Sucralose. The citric acid shouldn't affect perception of it. It's just a metric fuck-tonne of sweetener. There are also two preservatives, one is a confirmed reproductive toxin in females, suspected for males. Would not vape. You can Google the MSDS for the preservatives.
Also, no one's vaping sugars unless they're using flavorwest
Yea I've heard about that, I would just swap it out with the TFA sweetener then for anyone concerned. Correct, I worded my original post quite awkwardly about sugars.
According to new information from the actual SDS sheet, TFA sweetener is 5% sucralose, 42-46% pg, & 48-51% water or something.
FW Blueberry + FA Bilberry makes for an awesome blueberry base.
Blueberry Jam was one of the most disappointing flavors from Cap for me. I tried to make it work in several recipes, but it just carries to much of an artificial/plastic note for me.
