Hi,i'm new to Reddit so please forgive me if I'm doing anything wrong here, like posting in the wrong subreddit or something. Anyways, i recently asked my brother who runs a pharmacy if he had pure VG.I figured that the stuff coming from a pharmacy can't be bad.So he told me that the purest concentration they have is 85%Vg with 15% Water. The reason for that is that it makes it easier to work with. We all know that 99,9% VG is viscous as fuck and it's a pain in the ass to handle sometimes. I was not aware that those 15% of distilled Water change everything completely. So i mixed up some juice, let it steep for a while and went for a vape a couple of days later. Firstly it was almost like pure water, when i dripped into my RDA and secondly it just tasted like shit....weak,watery Long story short...don't buy diluted VG even though it comes from a pharmacy. It contains just too much water to be useful for an e-juice Cheerio
Depends on your concentrates somewhat. I've mixed as high as 10% water and with certain flavors it actually works.
Generally speaking just 1-2% water is enough. Keep in mind that water lowers the boiling point of the eliquid and 15% does so significantly. Also water doesn't carry most volatiles very well.
yeah dude,i didn't think about the boiling point of water but now that you mention it,the vape experience was also very weird compared to a normal high vg mix or even a 60/40 mix. I'm surprised that you get a good vape out of a blend which contains 10% of water. As you said yourself, water does not carry the flavour very well and i don't wanna use FA concentrates at ridiculous high amounts like 8% or something
There are volatiles that work with water and those tend to be the ones I've had some luck with. My GF used to dilute our PG-free mixes with 3% DW but now with temp control there's no need. Wick doesn't burn anymore.
Learning by experimentation - nice. Did you use it in a normal flavor mix in place of the normal 99.9%? Any PG in there?
No i didn't use any pg in there.just the flavours and the vg.Might be an option to combine it with pg,just to get more flavour out of it and not use high amounts of flavourings.but i guess you would end up with a very thin mix with a very weak cloud production
Using water as a dilutant in eliquid seems like a disaster from the start. My flavorings that have a PG base seem to do that job quite well while adding a bit of throat hit at the same time. Might I ask what makes the 99.9% vg so difficult to work with? In my experience it mixes well, pours fine and only once or twice muted flavors a bit (I just compensated with a few extra % of flavor to correct the issue). I'm just curious what you mean by pain in the ass to handle...
ok for example when i use a funnel to pour the vg into a 30 or 50ml bottle it takes some effort to get it in there because it's so thick.if i do nothing, the vg just stays in the funnel therefore i have to use something pointy to get the vg flowing down.or if you make a new batch of something it just blends really slowly together unless you put it into a warm bath of water. Nothing really world-shaking but still a bit annoying imo
From what do you pour it in ? If it's a bottle or something just Tilt the bottle till it flows, place the opening above the bottle where you want to put it in and it will flow in a steady thick Stream. No need for a Funnel at all. No Drops anywhere.
Hey bud. I suggest getting some squeeze condiment bottles if youre trying to pour from a 1L bottle. I got some the other day and they are awesome. Squeezing vg takes like 30s now instead of a couple minutes.

What I will do if I want to make a max VG batch and want it a little thinner is give just the VG a warm bath for a while then let it cool down naturally. After it cools I'll make my batch of whatever and its easy to wick.
yeah i might consider doing that but that means that i should fill some vg into a smaller bottle like a 100ml bottle because otherwise i would have to put the 1liter bottle into the bath every time i wanna mix something.but that's an option that will make life easier for sure
You do it once and it keeps it thinner and actually vaper super smooth. You should try making your mixes at 30pg/70vg. I find its a perfect ratio for just about any mix. You start going higher and you lose flavor intensity. Go lower and it starts getting thin for me. I run a dripper all day so the 70vg is prefect for my wicking. If I'm going to be on the road a bit I'll fire up my tank and make a 40pg/60vg mix to help my tank wick better. It's all about making what's going to work best on your setup.
well mostly i end up in between 74 and 80% depending on the amount of flavourings i use which works fine for me.I haven't run into any problems with either any of my rta's nor my rda's.it all depends on the wicking.for me the scottish roll wick was a game changer when i found out about that a couple of months ago.with that method it doesn't matter if i use max vg or not.it just wicks like a charm. ultimately i just wanted to try out the stuff from the pharmacy and i came to the conclusion that it just doesn't work.so i stick to the ingredients from my local vape shop and vape happily ever after...or until the fucking politicians destroy vaping for everyone with their stupid regulations
