Enid - just another strawberry+lime+pear juice
submitted over 9 years ago by Cryphy

I’d like to preface this by saying that I have never tried a “premium” juice until a month ago. Once vaping became more of a hobby than a cigarette cessation product, I started DIY. The first thing I created, 2-3 flavors, absolutely destroyed the crap I was paying good money for at B&Ms.

Because of just how low of a bar I set for myself, I did not ever plan on contributing anything to this sub. However, I recently purchased 30ml of Placid as it seems to be an unattainable (yet supposed 4 flavor) mix that people seem to like and have absolutely no luck reproducing. It also fit the general flavor profile that I was looking for at the time.

Then I realized the things we can make are equal or better. 15+ Revisions later. I have something I am somewhat proud of. This is best steeped a day or a few, but I don’t wait.

Enid. (v16)

Key Lime (TFA) - 2%
Limetka (INW) - .75%
Strawberry (TFA) - 6.5%
Pear (TFA) - 1.3%
Coconut (FLV) - .33%
Pineapple (INW) - .5%
11.38% Total
13%PG 87%VG

I vape SS TC in a RDTA on a non-accurate device.
I find that this tastes better at MODERATELY-HOT degrees. More pear.

Key Lime TFA - I am a huge fan. I love lime a bit too much in my vapes, I have used and abused this flavor for quite some time. To me it is the taste of a key lime, no zest just lime. I find that the percentage necessary extremely varied based on other ingredients. I also find that depending on the mix, it can either fade as time progresses or become more prominent. In this recipe it fades and combines with INW Lime.

Limetka INW - I got this specifically for this recipe. Originally to replace Key Lime. I find that it lends a very strong taste of zest. This coupled with Key Lime is delicious, so I stuck with it. Much more of this in anything and it is overwhelming to me.

Strawberry TFA - I have a hard time identifying strawberry. With that said, I have 6+ strawberries and I use varieties of them as a major crutch to pretty much everything I make. This choice was inspired by the smell of Placid, which I did enjoy. I had been using CAP Sweet Strawberry and TFA Strawberry Ripe for weeks. I opened this again and knew I had to build around the synergy with Pear that it seems Placid has.

Pear TFA - I first mixed this flavor with TFA Juicy Peach. 5-7% each or something. I did not touch it again for months. As time has progressed I have learned that sometimes incrementing by 1% is wildly drastic. I love this flavor again. I feel that it is a delicious dry Pear that I want as a strong accent.

Coconut FLV - This was a very late almost planned addition. I originally planned on coconut in v1, but I then realized I had no coconut remaining at all. It is a delicious representation of coconut. I’ve used CAP and I searched for the coconut, really never found it. I was leery at the price. So worth it.

Pineapple INW - I use this flavor as an ‘tropical’ accent fairly frequently. In this mix, I aimed to have it add a hint of ‘tropical’ -- it is barely there after a 3-5 day steep. If I were to take anything out to see what happens this would be it.

Thanks for all of the help to be found in this forum, it is a great resource that everyone should learn to search properly :)

I hope you all like this recipe, I have zero guinea pigs so this is my palate speaking. Sorry for shit formatting.

It's a strange but nice feeling, realizing you've made something worth sharing with other people. :)

As an avowed Placid/ADK-in-general addict, I'm definitely going to have to try this.

The folks at Adirondack never said it was four flavors... Yes, there are four flavors mentioned in the description, but what was said elsewhere on this sub, was that they used flavors from four different companies.

That's the rabbit hole we fall down. I've been playing with honeysuckle, lime, pear, and strawberry for a year now, and I don't think I'm any closer than I was at the beginning.

My latest epiphany was the fact that everyone who smells me vapin OG Placid asks if it's cotton candy. That makes me think that maybe I've been missing ethyl maltol all along.

Don't let it discourage you. Keep experimenting, and keep taking notes. What we're doing here is science!

Hmm, I think ADK have said they don't add sweeteners, could be wrong. Possibly that could mean the EM is coming through TFA strawberry ripe?

I also don't know if the aroma people pick up when smelling our vapor can help us pinpoint too accurately, I get wildly differing inquiries about what flavor I'm vaping, usually waaay off of the true flavor. Just my own personal opinion.

Right on, looks pretty good! Thanks for the share. I don't have INW Limetka so I can't give it a go, but looks like a good flavor so I might just be pikcing it up.

Sounds great. I'm planning on mixing this up soon. One question though I don't have Inw pineapple so I was debating dropping it like you mentioned or subbing TFA pineapple have you tried both? What would you recommend?

I have not tried TFA Pineapple. Only other Pineapple I've tried is CAP - Golden Pineapple. I would attempt a sub at whatever is an equally low percentage.

Isn't INW pineapple super weak? I heard it needs like 10% to taste it.

Not in my experience. I've used a lot of INW and I wouldn't attempt 10% of anything I have I don't believe.

Weird, I read somewhere that INW pineapple was the only INW flavor that needed almost 10%.

Honestly, INW Pineapple might still work at 10%. I don't think I've ever attempted to use it as a main note in anything.

I am pondering mixing a Pina Colada with FLV Coconut. Since I only have two Pineapples I will see just how much INW Pineapple one can use.

Absolutely not. 1% is plenty. People aren't tasting it at 10% because they're over-flavoring like crazy

I wouldn't call it "weak", but it's probably the weakest of all the INW flavors I've tried. I'd say it's on par with TFA flavors as far as strength. The nice thing about it is that it takes on very different flavors and accents when you use it at different percentages. I've tried 1%, 5%, and 7% and they're all usable.

I've never had Adirondack's Placid myself, but, after mixing and loving a clone recipe a couple months back, I've been really enjoying trying peoples' interpretations of it.

Psyched to see Limetka in this one! Saved! Thanks for sharing it.
