Can y'all describe the orange flavors you have?
submitted over 9 years ago by auggiebirdFrugivore

I want an orange flavor, for an orange cream soda recipe and for some fruit mixes (like pineapple and mango), and I want to know what orange is best. I HATE tic tac orange flavor. I like orange soda. I would prefer natural orange however orange is a hard flavor to replicate perfectly so I'll settle for orange soda.

FW blood orange is decent. Tastes like McDonald's OJ to me, definitely not candylike

Mix 6% of that with 8% TFA French Vanilla Deluxe.

Orange creamsicle! Simplest recipe that I have and is currently my ADV

I'm new to the DIY game, so I've been saving all the 2-3 flavor recipes I can find. I'll be adding this to the list too. Know any more simple recipes?

I took a break from DIY but I got about every orange flavor from TFA and the Mandarin orange was their best and most "real" tasting flavor. Mixed with Bavarian cream I got a pretty good orange Creamsicle going.

What kind of orange taste is it? Is it like a soda or like a real mandarin or like a zest?

I've just started using this concentrate. Mixed at 4% it has the same flavor as an orange tic tac. I'm guessing those notes might work nicely in smaller amounts but as I'm not a fan of those little orange pill candies I can't say I particularly enjoyed the taste in a standalone vape. I'll have to try the Bavarian cream suggestion, sounds intriguing. Definitely not what I would consider an accurate orange flavor though, unless it becomes more natural at lower amounts.

Somewhere between soda and real mandarin, it's not perfect but the best I have found.

What percentage are you mixing it at? Someone else commented and said at 4% it tastes like an orange tic tac.

I have yet to find a good orange flavor. most of the ones I've tried have been "Orange battery acid", "Orange sugar syrup", "Vaguely Orange", or "Tang"

I saw on ECX they had MF mandarin orange. I wonder if that's more realistic.

Let's be lazy and not use the searchbar at all. Ever.

Let's not realize that this topic isn't even one month old, because we have no desire to actually go and see what others have said before.

I searched "best orange" and that didn't come up. It came up with a few best orange posts but I wasn't satisfied with the answers.

Simpler searches will yield more results. "Best Orange", "Orange", "Mandarin", "Comparing Orange Flavor", "Nectarine", "Orange Cream", "Orange Soda". And that's just in the reddit search. Then you can do /u/abdada's favorite google: "site:reddit.com/r/diy_ejuice [search term]."

Then make a post about it, having some more information to clarify what it is you are looking for. Like, "Hi everyone, I have done some digging on orange flavors and I have some questions. I don't want to buy every orange flavor out there, and I hear that FA Mandarin, TFA Mandarin and X, are the best real orange flavors, are there any other ones I should try? I really don't like candy orange flavor, and am looking for something true to a real orange. Are the above flavors that I searched for and researched good representations of a real orange, or do you have any other suggestions?"

Tl;dr Show that you put some effort in the DIY part of this before you go asking for help, or ask in the new mixers thread

...you may have just changed the way I interact with reddit as a whole. Thank you for putting that up there, I had no idea you could do that.

Typically when researching flavors, I will search for the flavor on e-liquid-recipe and read the notes that others have about the flavor as well as what they are mixing it with. As well as checking the sidebar here of course, this can be a great place to get notes on new flavors as well. Another neat trick is to search for a flavor profile on a site like BCV and list the results by bestselling and top rated to see what pokes out at the top. Just some friendly suggestions on where to get more info before committing to a purchase. This makes my last point pretty clear however, you can always place an order for 3 to 4 different orange flavors and end up only spending $6-$10 to test multiple flavors. Seems like a no brainer :)

Yes, it is helpful. It's a bummer that 88% of the notes are repeating copy/paste of HiC's notes, but it is still a helpful start.

I got an orange cream from TFA that's decent and a good orange from Capella.

Is the Capella one sweet tangerine?

Maybe Juicy Orange, but I've never tried it. I've seen it in plenty of recipes though.

Sweet tangerine to me tastes like those baby aspirins. Super powdery sugary orange.

Tfa - orange cream - light creamy aspect with an orange flavor that I find is similar to generic orange popsicles or freezies but kind of weak potency.

Fa - Orange - when I think of Orange flavoring this is the Orange that comes to mind. Very prominent orange (not sure what type) kind of sweet and not an overly rindy taste. Overall best orange I own.

Fw - ecto cooler - very, very prominent naval orange with a decent rindy taste. Great for the diy hard citrus lovers out there.

Welp. I was going to post here, but those are the exact three orange flavorings that I have and just about exactly how I feel about them.

May I ask. TFA Orange Cream is not bad as a stand alone flavor. It's not exactly what I was looking for as far as a orange creamsicle flavor. How are you using it?

Yeah, As a standalone it wasn't bad, but it wasn't worth mixing either imo.

And, well I use it in places that already have a creamy aspect. E.g. I use it in a citrus cheesecake, it adds a bit extra body from the creamy side and a sweet orange so it balances well with the stronger citruses I use where as I find Fa orange alone doesnt offer enough cause I can't bring the % high enough to get the orange taste without the zest.

I also use it as a base for a creamsicle recipe but I don't have the proper ingredients so I gave up on that for the time being.

It's honestly not that versatile but it does have its places.

I've got a 15ml of orange tic tac, its the worst thing i've ever vaped. I'd be willing to line it up against that dude who vaped piss, or the bug vaper.

Hmm, that sounds like a decent flavor tho.. maybe it's just a dud mix?

This may help you. I haven't tried it personally, but I have a buddy who has and says it's pretty good real orange flavor and /u/iwillnoteatgreeneggs has a juice line that is absolutely great to me. I've probably tried 8-10 of his juices and everything has been spot on flavor wise (I'm not saying I've like every one, but the description matches the juice 100%of the time).

FW Blood Orange seems to be the closest I can get to a fresh orange. FA Tanger (Mandarin) is really pleasant and has an orange soda taste imo, but it might be too close to the tic-tac flavor you're avoiding. TFA Orange Cream tastes like a creamsicle and might be a decent base.

Inawera Orange tastes like biting into an orange to me. TFA Mango is pretty mild and tastes somewhat like dehydrated mango Cap's Sweet Tangerine tastes more or less like Sunny Delight.

I'm confused, do you mean mandarin, not mango?
