An app to check vendor stock and price for flavors!

In my quest to learn web development, I've decided to make an app to check stock status and price on Gremlin and Bull City (ecx is up next).

It's at a fairly early stage but it's fairly functional.

Known Issues

Multiple names for the same item
Some of the items are listed a little wonky on each of the sites, so the scraper doesn't register them properly.
Slow load times
Right now the info for each of the items is only scraped upon user request, so loading an individual item can take some time. Right now the scraped data is cached for 60 minutes, so consecutive loads during that time frame will be much faster.

Fortunately I know about Alltheflavors. Great site all around, and I'm excited to see what /u/queuetue is going to add in the future. This is just a little side project I'm working on until a more in depth scraper is added to ATF. I have zero intentions to monetize this etc.

I used curl to make an XMLHttp Request to the vendors website. You will have to scrape all the identifying information for each item though. http://imgur.com/a/tJPaQ

Any chance someone that has the basic setup down could also include some EU stores? /ecr_eu will probably provide a more than adequate list but you can also ask me by PM and I will send you the biggest 4-5.

That's pretty far off right now considering the issues I'm having with homogenizing the data from 2 vendors. If you are familiar with PHP I plan on moving my project to a public repository on github this weekend.

Whats the feasbility of an app or website that you enter in your entire cart of items you would like to buy and than it automatically finds the cheapest purchase combo over the multiple sites inc shipping?

say I wanted 15 flavors, and the best option was to get 5 from Gremlin, 5 from BCV, and 5 from ECX. I press buy, enter in card/shipping, and buys from all three sites simultaneously.

That's actually a feature I've been contemplating. Price comparison wouldn't be too hard to implement once I had a solid homogenized database to reference. However actually processing orders is out of the question. That's a whole new ball game entirely.

When I first started getting into DIY i really wished there were a site similar to PCPartPicker for juice. It would be super cool if you could even select a recipe, or multiple, and then it could show you the results for all the flavors you would need and who has it and what their price is.

I still think the hardest part of getting into DIY is finding all the stuff you need and actually ordering it from 5 different sources. Once you know where to buy something, and have it bookmarked its easier but it takes a lot of learning.

GreamlinDIY actually sells a couple a flavor sets on their site, which is a little like one of your ideas. And I'm with you. Nothing like ordering 20 items only for one to be out of stock
