Yesterday while mixing a hefty batch of juice, I noticed that my most recent gallons of VG from Essential Depot now said "Palm Derived" on them.
Yesterday while going on their website to re-up on VG, I noticed on their front page that the normal $39 cubes are now labeled "Palm Derived" they now have "Soy Derived" for $36 per cube with quantity discounts.
Does anyone have experience with Soy Derived VG over Palm? I think I've seen /u/abdada mention that he uses specifically Palm Derived stuff, but never heard anything about the Soy variant.
Soy is sustainable, palm is not.
A common misconception is that the palm industry is the cause for deforestation and habitat destruction when the real problem lies with an impoverished community that depends on farming for income. If palm wasn't being grown there then it would be soy or some other oil crop. Considering palm is by and large the largest producer of oil per acre, it is likely the most efficient and therefore sustainable crop to grow. Address the economic disparity and you solve the problem.
Don't use the soy stuff unless you want to grow breasts. Unless you're a woman, then go for it.
In seriousness though, while I have heard some negative things about soy derived VG I can't say if it's any better or worse in any way to Palm Derived. I am pretty sure though that any aversion or allergies to soy will be an issue with soy derived VG so keep that in mind.

Is that the nicotine you use at BlueDot's, Supercritical nic ? I always wondered why no vendors were bragging about that, seems like a major selling point.
When they say VG is USP and therefore 99.7% pure or whatever, I always assumed that remaining percentage was water or something equally innocuous, but if it matters what it's dereived from there must be some other "stuff". Anyone know what that "stuff" is?
