Hey guys, so I'm fairly new to DIY, I've been doing it for a bit, but my nicotine has started to go bad, went from clear to a darker color, I still use it but I feel like it's been effecting my flavors, possibly muting some notes and adding a weird tinge. Before I order my new nicotine, I just want to ask a few questions and see you guy's opinions.
I know that storing it in amber glass bottles in the freezer with argon is the most optimal method, but would storing it in plastic squeeze bottles in the freezer really be that bad? I know that air can get through the plastic, and if I don't use argon it'll be exposed to it even more, but if it's in the freezer I feel like it'll be fine for long term storage. Just wondering if anybody uses the latter and if it is effected at all.
I would probably put a label or something on the nicotine to prevent more light getting into the bottle, but would using a 30ml squeeze bottle be that terrible? My nicotine went bad in probably like 3-4 months of it being just in my drawer in the dark, and opening it for minimal amounts to use. I feel like freezing it would be sufficient to stop most of the oxidation process. Just curious. That is all.
I don't see why you would be curious and not get the glass bottles. They are really cheap and it's the best method..
Last time I ordered bottles from a source, I payed more for the shipping (like 30 dollars) than I did for the bottles. I would only need like 4 bottles, I haven't checked amazon for them, but if you had a good link for some cheap bottles I'd consider it. But also the convenience of having the drip tip in the plastic bottle instead of using syringes.

And I keep a 30ml of my working nic in a 30ml plastic squeeze in the freezer.
How long has your "working nic" been in use? Notice any degradation at all in it? Do you transfer from glass to plastic with a syringe? Sorry for bombarding with questions but I may just get some bottles off amazon and then use one plastic. I just have so many plastic already but it'll definitely save me more $$ in the long run if I store it correctly as opposed to wasting almost 60 ml of nicotine.
You're right in that glass and argon is optimal but it's not strictly necessary. Keeping your nic supply in the freezer, where it's very cold and very dark, will preserve it for months. I transfer about 20ml (of 100mg/ml 50/50 PG/VG) at a time to a working room-temp bottle.
I would be using 100mg/ml PG, which I'm pretty sure can degrade a bit faster than a VG mix. I want to use the multiple bottle method instead of just the base bottle and a working bottle because I don't use too much at a time, and that way if one batch goes bad I can have 3 other bottles that are still good.

I'm planning to buy from Vaperstek because I enjoyed their nicotine, I've seen this alot and kind of considered it, but I'm not really sure about it. You have any pictures of it? I've never actually seen one.
If you order from carolina extracts, they ship it in a light proof bag with double bubble wrap.
I took one layer of bubble wrap off, but left it in the lightproof bag and put it in my freezer. I'll make one 30ml dark dropper bottle for my working nic, and thats it.
