TFA Honey tasting notes and analysis..

So a few months ago my roommate ordered 10ml of TFA Honey against my advice... I haven't ordered flavorings in a while so i decided to attempt to tackle TFA Honey so i would have something new to play with.. (Because ~100 flavors isn't enough of course).

So here's my first attempt:

TFA Strawberry - 4%
TFA Bavarian Cream - 2%
TFA Honey 10% Dilution - 2% OR TFA Honey - 0.2%

Since I basically have the taste of the first two ingredients imprinted into my brain from the early days when I had 120ml of both, and few others to work with, its pretty easy to isolate the flavor of the TFA Honey.

Im about 5mls in to this bottle, and its honestly not that bad. The honey is there, but not totally overpowering. Here are my impressions so far (Mixed two days ago, 10mls at 90% VG):

Floral - definitely has a floral/perfume flavor. Faint in the sense that it doesn't taste like a particular flower or scent (ex. it doesn't taste like "lavender" or "rose") , but very present. Present more on the exhale.. Makes me think of chai tea, not sure why.
Earthy - it kindof tastes like dirt.. or like... dirt. I'm not sure how to describe this or what to compare it to. I'm sure some would describe it as "funky" but that evokes the thought of spoiled food, which this is not. Its a little bit bitter, but more like the taste associated with bitter foods.
Other - so this flavor is surprisingly complex... it has all these weird undertones I can't pin... Maybe a little bit fruity? It kindof reminds me of how TFA Blackberry tastes like perfume when you use too much...

On to the MSDS! The previous notes were done before looking at the list of components, so i didn't cheat.

phenyl acetic acid - this compound is only in TFA Honey. i suspect this is the "floral note", based on the description above. according to wikipedia, possess a "disagreeable" odor, and in low concentrations, a honey like scent. Also used in production of some bootleg form of methamphetamines, which is interesting.

Isoamyl Isovalerate - This flavor is in a lot of TFA Flavorings, namely TFA Blackberry, which explains why it reminds me of it. It's also in TFA Banana Cream which makes sense because i've gotten a similar feel from that flavoring ("chemically")...

methyl phenyl acetate - this flavoring is only in Honey and Raisin, and i've never had raisin. Based on my very loose knowledge of chemistry, and some googling, this is similar to phenyl acetic acid, and produces an extremely potent honey smell, and is naturally occurring in honey. Maybe this compound is what gives this flavor its "ultra-potency"....

Isoamyl Acetate - this is similar to the other "Isoamyl" compound in that it is part of many flavors. Similar ones as well. Similar description as well. Its interesting to me that TFA uses two pairs of similar compounds to create this flavor.

Anethole<(E)-> - this is anise. or at least of the main notes in it. looking at the other flavors its in, its definitely anise. Maybe the more "spicy" aspect of anise based on the description. I can't really taste this, so I assume its some kind of flavoring perception wizardry akin to TFA Dragonfruit that causes other flavors to change instead of presenting itself.

Anyways, there's my attempt to be /u/abdada...

Now can someone give me a decent recipe to use this in plsss

I actually kind of like TFA honey. I mixed it in with a strawberry pear recipe and it was pretty good, I would've kept making it if the vapor didn't make rooms smell like an Indian outhouse.

I've been playing with TFA Honey more and superdiluted it isn't bad at all.

Earthy dirt is a good description. Try knocking the percentage down even more.

Holy shit, now that's a breakdown on a flavor. You seem to know your stuff, what would you say is the best honey flavor out there? I'm looking for something that really taste like honey, a really sweet delicious honey. I want to use it in one of my yogurt blends, but so far I haven't found a honey that seems to actually taste like honey. A lot of them taste real flowery to me, and nothing like real honey. INW being one of them.

Thats the irony of it... i just did a bunch of research. I dont know what the best honey is but ive heard FA Honey is good

Edit: maybe try the honey at an uber low concentration with some sweetener

FA Honey is fantastic under 0.5%. One of my favorite juices is 0.35% FA Honey and VG. Works as an excellent sweetener as well

I'd start with something like TFA Green Tea, CAP Hibiscus and TFA Honey. Can't think it would go well with anything other than tea flavors.

A 10% dilution at about 1% is pretty fucking decent in a good peanut butter/nutty base, especially with a touch of citrus added.

0.5% TFA Honey 10% Dilution
5% CAP Sugar Cookie
2% CAP Vanilla Custard v1
2% TFA Cheesecake (Graham Crust)

Thanks for all the good info you guys. Im looking to make a Ludicous Speed Clone (honey drizzled yogurt). Had been wondering what a good honey flavor would be. I already have my yogurt base down. So this thread has been helpful.
