I teased this during my appearance on the DIY or Die podcast InTheMix in February, and I'm now finally ready to release it! This one took a lot of experimentation, but I'm confident this is the best possible Peppermint Patty recipe.
Marcie, named after Peppermint Patty's lesbian friend, uses a couple of unique tricks I haven't seen anyone else use here. Read the flavor notes below for details.
Marcie - Peppermint Patty Clone

Flavor Notes:
Chocolate: The trick that everyone has been missing is the waxy quality of the chocolate on Peppermint Patty candies. I figured this one out form my work on Matthew McConauKKK, where I found that Vanilla Bean Gelato with Joy gave you the right sort of waxy sweetness in cupcake sprinkles. In this application it blends perfectly with the Double Chocolate. Vanilla is a good chocolate booster too, which is important to keep that chocolate present in the mix.
Peppermint: There are several Peppermint Patty recipes on ELR using Creame De Menthe with some Peppermint, and with good reason. This combination gets you a pepperminty flavor; without it tasting like the Peppermint hard candy, or a candy cane. For this recipe I bought FA, TFA and CAP's Peppermints to test with. The TFA Peppermint tastes too sharp and throws off the balance, but if you only have it available you can get a decent juice with it at 1%. FA Peppermint is a close second to CAP's, and should also only be used at 1%. CAP's take on Peppermint is perfect here because it has a much gentler peppermint quality. You want that in this recipe with so many different flavors trying to meld together as one cohesive "Peppermint Patty" ideal.
(Side Note: I strongly encourage you to purchase all of the flavors for a flavor you're working on in your own recipes. Doing so was invaluable on this one. That way you can really be sure you're recommending the best, and can also recommend reasonable substitutions.)
Smooth Sweetness: I know a lot of you looked at the Malted Milk and thought, "Fuck it. I don't have that, I'll just mix it without. It's 0.25%... it can't make that much difference." And to that I say, "No, fuck you." The Malted Milk is vital here. It plays the roll of Triacetin here, blending together a bunch of strongly different flavors into one by lightly muting some of the sharp points in the flavors. Without it this whole thing tastes like a bunch of chocolate and peppermint. It's alright, but it's more like a chocolate-covered candy cane than a Peppermint Patty. I've tried subbing in Triacetin (TFA Smooth/MTS Vape Wizard) but this is a DANGEROUS COMBINATION WITH KOOLADA! I haven't had a dry hit while dripping in over a year, but with the combination of Triacetin dulling tastebuds and Koolada chilling everything I was getting dry hits far too often.
The Malted Milk also adds an extra layer of different sweetness with the Cotton Candy/EM 10%, so it is also providing flavor at just 0.25%! It's amazing how much this will mute other flavors though. I checked the MSDS just to be sure it doesn't contain Triacetin. Seriously you need it to smooth things here, but don't go above 0.25% or you've fucked up.
I'm a big fan of this flavor profile so I will definitely try this down the road! I'm currently on a self imposed ban from ordering anymore flavors...
Not ordering flavors? This... is... POKEMON!
Gotta catch 'em all!
Hello Discchord, do you think i can sub Vanilla Bean Gelato with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream?
No, but the result may be interesting. Gelato has an important waxy quality, while VBIC is buttery. At this percentage the waxiness is just a pleasant hint, that pairs perfectly with the Double Chocolate (Clear).
It is not an exaggeration to say that the Gelato makes this recipe work. Without it, and I've tried, this just tastes mediocre like so many of the Peppermint Patty recipes in ELR. I don't think VBIC's buttery note would improve it.
