This is one of my favourite recipes by any premium juice maker and the only one my girlfriend likes and can taste (she doesn't vape). I have made a few different variations of this and I think its pretty good and pretty close to the original but would be very happy for any feedback.
Ingredients|% :---|---: Hazelnut (TPA)|5 Caramel (TPA)|4 Caramel candy (TPA)|2 Vanilla Swirl (TPA)|3 Vanilla Custard (TPA)|1 Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (TPA)|1 Bavarian Cream (TPA)|2 Sweetener (sucralose)| 1 drop per 10ml
Notes
Clancy's description - A delectable English cream with subtle undertones of sweet vanilla and warm hazelnut. This robust blend is enriched with delightful notes of butter and velvety caramel.
Hazelnut - This is the main flavour profile in my opinion and is why I love this juice. At 5% it is probably a bit more prominent than the original and could be dropped back to 4% but is really tasty like this.
Vanilla swirl, Vanilla custard, Vanilla bean ice cream, Bavarian cream - These flavour make up the English cream part of the base. English cream is a sweet light custard with a hint of vanilla. These flavours mix nicely to give that nice vanilla background note while keeping the base creamy but not too heavy and custard like. These %s could probably be tweaked a bit but right now they seem pretty good to me.
Caramel and Caramel Candy - I think that the addition of caramel candy to the original caramel gives it that nice buttery/velvety taste. To me it reminds me of a werther's original. Really makes the vape smooth and seems to round it all out nicely.
Sucralose - Not needed but makes the recipe closer to the original, gives that sugarlips feeling and really enhances the caramel and helps it mix with the hazelnut.
Would love to get some feedback as I'm sure it could be tweaked a bit as I am still relatively new at DIY and I don't have the best sense of taste so I am sure others might be able to pick out certain nuances that I might have missed.
Also want to say a huge thanks to this community for helping me so much, especially /u/Enyawreklaw whose DIYorDIE videos really helped me so much in how to approach making a recipe and ways of thinking about how flavours interact. I can't even imagine the amount of money I would be wasting on premium juice (which most of is just over sweetened basic flavours anyway) if I hadn't got into DIY.
Hope you guys enjoy.
Looks like a pretty great recipe, and your notes on this are top notch. A very nice first recipe post, seems like you have a good grasp on how the flavours work.
One thing to note, but I'm assuming you've already taken this into consideration what with saying you already have been enjoying this recipe. But for future reference, creams tend to really change during steeping. For a fully cream based recipe such as this, it probably isn't a big deal, because you'll be happy with the flavours getting more intense as time goes on.
But when you introduce fruits or anything else into a recipe that has a solid cream base, be careful and mindful of how much you're putting in. Too much cream will overpower the fruit with steeping, especially flavours like Bavarian Cream and Sweet Cream.
Just some notes for you if you ever decide to dive into fruit and cream mixes. Either way, great post, and I'll be sure to try this out when I get all the necessary ingredients.
The caramel and caramel candy combo seems a little extreme. Honestly feel you could get away with 2% caramel candy.
Yeah I find it hard to taste the caramel myself, maybe im working up too high instead of going lower. Might try a mix with just the caramel candy this afternoon and post back here
