How to improve TFA mango?

Right now anything I make with it just tastes kind of funky, and not really mango-ish. Have tried it on its own, with vanilla, with guava, with guava and vanilla, different percentages etc. and I can't figure out a way to make it taste good and more mango-ey

Ok, these are my limited notes from a few months back -- definitely pair it with another mango (INW or CAP Sweet Mango).

From what I recall, I used sweeteners (EM) to reduce the earthy underripe flavor notes. I didn't like it as a solo flavor at all.

Definitely needed 3-5 days of steeping though.

I'll post my TFA Mango notes, what little I have, in a few minutes. Just arriving at the house.

TFA Mango goes GREAT with INW Mango in a 4:1 ratio (TFA:INW). TFA Mango also goes GREAT with CAP Sweet Mango in a 1:2 ratio (TFA:CAP).

TFA Mango just tastes off to me. It tastes green. Like Grass or something. Could be me though. Bronuts taste like jalapenos covered in cocoa powder. :(

Nah, I get that too with TFA Mango. I get a lot of green, skin-like, under-ripe flesh type flavours.

There's a term for that, it's astringent. A sort of dry, earthy, kind of unripened fruit flavor.

Not really, astringency is more of a puckering dry type mouthfeel which I don't get with TFA Mango.

Flavour-wise, TFA Mango to me is like they took an under-ripe mango, left the skin and removed 70% of the flesh, and replicated taking a bite of that.

OMG. Thank you! Green is exactly how I describe this flavor! Feeling so validated right now. (Chocolate flavors taste off to me and so do apple flavors. It's odd and dissapointing)

I just noticed I never really made my point. IMO this flavor isnt worth trying to fix. Its not lacking depth or sweetness or whatever. Its just off. Move to a different mango.

Can add TFA Jackfruit as an accent flavor between a 1/4 to 1/3 ratio(1% Jackfruit to 3% or 4% Mango- adds tropical funk and tartness). CAP Sweet Mango adds a lot of sweetness and dulls a bit of the TFA's muskyness.

Capella Sweet Mango is tasty as hell but I also think there might be a decent bit of sweetener in there and it could be more of a coil gunker than some.

It tastes so damn good though.

As /u/abdada said, definitely pair it with another mango. I've been mostly happy using a mango base I make that's 60% TFA Mango, 30% CAP Sweet Mango, and 10% FA Mango. But when I use too much of it, it gets a bit "rindy," so I think I might try lower the TFA and FA and increase the CAP in the future. But my next order will have some INW and TFA Philippine mangoes and so I'll see where that takes me. Regardless of where you're trying to go, you're not going to get there with TFA Mango alone.

If you like a creamy mango, you might also try backing it up with some TFA or LA Banana Cream or a very small amount Orange Cream.

It's reminiscent of Manchu by Alpha Vapes if you've ever had it. The CAP sweet mango/sweet guava mixed with TPA Mango was key to my success. The Capella flavors play off of each very well in this mix and also tone down the earthy mango vibe from the TPA Mango. Hope you enjoy it too!
