Friend asked me to make a caramel juice for him. FA Caramel at 4% tastes nasty. Can anyone help?
submitted over 9 years ago by Peter-Fallow

I have Caramel DX TPA but that doesn't smell so great either. Is there anything I can add to my 20ml bottle of 4% Caramel FA (50/50) to make it taste ok? Looking for a simple caramel flavour, nothing too complicated.

Creamy Caramel Custard by ThirdWorldOrder

  • Caramel (Original) TFA 1.5%

  • Caramel Candy TFA 1%

  • Sweet Cream TFA 3%

  • Vanilla Custard TFA 7%

Figured I'd give you some of my tweaks since I do it differently. I sub:

Vanilla Custard TFA 7% for Cap Vanilla Custard v1 or v2 6%.

Caramel Candy TFA 1% for Caramel FA 1%

Thank you. I'll try something like this. Would some vanilla custard and sweetener be enough?

If you are using tfa caramel original, it actually has real sugar of some sort in it. Definitely doesn't need sweetener imo. Would probably bump the VC down and maybe add some tfa butterscotch if you have it on hand. Would probably give you more of a caramel than a custard flavor. Have only tried this as I showed above with my substituions. May need a few tries if you lower the vc, or remove it. I've tried tfa butterscotch, tfa caramel original, and fa caramel together, and I think they need something to tie them together. I liked ThirdWorldOrder's method and tweaked it to my tastes. I'm a custard fiend through and through.

Sorry for the shitty formatting. Its 2am here, half asleep and on mobile. Also a caramel lover though, so I will play with this tomorrow night, and hopefully get back to you.

I like TWOs recipe and its part of my usual rotation, but to me it's more of a caramel after taste. Do you think bumping either caramel percentage up would make it a little more caramel like? I'd play with it myself but I'm running low on VG

I would sooner lower the VC and maybe add some marshmallow or,something. Am planning on playing around with this tomorrow.

Cool, I don't have any marshmallow but I plan on including it in my next order. Let me know how it goes

Too high. Lower to 1-2%. FA Caramel is disgusting above 2.5% for me

Ok thanks. I think I'll pour half away so it's 2% FA Caramel. Do you have any advice on one or two flavours I could add to mellow it out? Would some vanilla custard Cap and a bit of ethyl maltol be enough?

Pour half away?

Nonononono, add 20 more mL of base. That will leave you with 2% FA Caramel, dumping out half would give you 10mL of 4% still...

Try /u/enyawreklaw's Caramel apple recipe. It has fa fuji and a few creams and a ton of fa caramel. Delicious!

Way too high, especially in a 50/50 blend. And FA Caramel won't work as a standalone. It's not very sweet.

Butterscotch and brown sugar are great with caramels. And FA Vienna Cream is a nice addition as well.

Medicine flower (aka lotus from ecx) is the only caramel that I have found that can stand being a main note

FA flavorings are very concentrated, you should try lowering to 0.5-1%

Sugar cookie at about 6% really is tasty with caramel

Those are all good advices, FA Caramel blends quite nicely with creams, cookies and vanillas.

I personally find TFA Caramel Original to be utterly disgusting and can't imagine why would anyone want to vape vomit flavor, but maybe it's just me.

4% of Flavour Art Caramel is a bit much. I wouldn't go past 1-2% personally. I also always add a cream when using caramel because it tends to have a bitter note otherwise (FA Fresh Cream, TFA Whipped cream or whatever cream you like or have) Custard could be good instead of the cream as well, depending on whether you like custard or not. 1%
