Alright, a third recipe for today. I reckon y'all are probably getting sick of seeing my name popping up all over this sub, but here's another recipe I just came up with thanks to /u/greeneggsandram pointing out how almost every recipe I post has the old TFA Strawberry Ripe/Dragonfruit combo. So here's a recipe that doesn't have either of those! Flavour notes and concept below.
Drunken Pears
Ingredients
- FA Pear at 4%
- TFA Juicy Peach at 2%
- CAP Cinnamon Danish at 1.5%
- TFA Brown Sugar at 0.4%
- TFA Meringue at 0.5%
- FA Torrone at 0.35%
- TFA Kentucky Bourbon at 2%
- TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream at 2%
- TFA Vanilla Swirl at 0.5%
Concept
One of my favourite desserts to make is some sauteed pears over vanilla ice cream with a bourbon reduction sauce. The soft warm pears sitting on top of that cold vanilla ice cream, slathered in a brown sugar/bourbon glaze is just delicious, and I thought it would translate nicely into a dessert vape. Little did I know how good it would turn out even on my first attempt, especially as a shake and vape. This mix will probably only improve with time, but I might not be able to make my 10ml tester last until the end of tonight. This is easily my most complex and "daring" recipe, and I really thought it was going to taste like shit. But, that first inhale was heavenly.
Flavour Notes
FA Pear/TFA Juicy Peach - so the base of this mix is supposed to be the pears, and I found that FA Pear on it's own is very creamy and sweet, but the pear flavour doesn't really hit you all that hard. I was reading notes on that flavour and it seems that when you hit the higher percentages of it, you lose that ripe, soft pear flavour and get more into a candy note, which I was trying to avoid. Adding that little bit of the juicy peach really gives the fruity notes in this mix some brightness.
CAP Cinnamon Danish - I added this in simply to give a little bit of a bakery aspect to the recipe. While the actual dessert that I make does not include cinnamon or any sort of bakery/bready notes, I felt like it would give the vape a fullness and would play nicely with the other flavours. It really adds to this mix at 1.5%, and it might do well at a higher percent if you want more cinnamon, but for what I was pushing for, this is great.
TFA Brown Sugar/TFA Meringue/FA Torrone/TFA Kentucky Bourbon - this was my sweetener in the recipe and the attempt at the bourbon glaze in the real dessert. What I love most about this combo is that you only really notice it on the exhale. The brown sugar lingers around on your tongue after you exhale, and the mouthfeel in general really emulates that caramelized sugar I was going for. It seems like the bourbon flavour isn't as strong as I would have liked, but I fear that TFA KB might be an overpowering flavour, and I don't want this vape to FEEL like alcohol, simply have that robust note of bourbon flavour. We'll see what happens with more experimentation.
TFA VBIC/TFA Vanilla Swirl - the only thing I don't like about VBIC is how it overpowers everything with time. After a few days steeping of Mustard Milk, all I can taste is the ice cream. So with this recipe, I tried lowering the VBIC a little bit, while adding the Vanilla Swirl to allow that vanilla flavour to stick around even after the VBIC steeps and gets stronger.
Steep Time
As a shake and vape, it's great. Very bright pear flavour on the inhale, creamy vanilla ice cream on the exhale, and a strong brown sugar aftertaste that sticks around for a few seconds afterward. I truly think this might be my best recipe yet, and I am truly surprised at how good it is on my first attempt.
Welp, I'm going to take a break from posting for a little while, I don't want y'all to get sick of me or be thinking, "well, here's Matthew again, fuckin try hard," because that ain't me, I'm just enjoying DIY experimentation far too much, and absolutely LOVE sharing any recipes that actually work.
Please let me know if anyone tries this, I'd love some notes on this other than what I'm picking up on. Cheers!
So basically, you don't want to become /u/Fawgmachine?
I'm okay with that, but you can keep on posting, mate. This looks pretty good!
Did you notice Fawgy came back? Resurrected as /u/cyantaco.
So a few weeks ago, I made a comment on one of Manson's posts about simple recipes and how you don't need to be complex all the time. And I commented on how I had someone hit me up to work on recipes and dude was using like, 20+ flavours at such small percentages in his mixes. I just realized that it was Fawg. Dude added me on Facebook and like, hyped the shit out of his recipes and kept trying to sell everything. No hate for hustlin, I get it, but I couldn't hang. Now it's all starting to come together hahaha.
lmao no called it tho <2 days
All I've ever done was try to be apart of this sub and help people out. Foreal dude grow up. You realize that there is life outside of Reddit right?
Hurray I'm popular!
Number 1 in my heart.
Oh goodness gracious, I love seeing all these well put together recipes with excellent flavor notes.
Can't remember if I have Kentucky Bourbon, but if I do, I'll mix this when I get home
I figured, if I'm gonna be posting as frequently as I have been, I definitely need to keep the posts full of information and whatnot. I'm glad my efforts to make a good post is noticed.
Honestly, I think the recipe will work just fine without the bourbon, because I can barely taste it at the percent that it's at now. But then again, it might just be melding with the sugar and creating the warm sweetness I am picking up on.
Ok. It's mixed, shaken, and gave it a quick pull.
First impressions...
EXCELLENT!
I wish I had the Kentucky Bourbon to add to this. Everything is balanced very well and I agree with your flavor notes 100%. I was scared to use juicy peach since it tears up my throat and almost switched to white peach, but I wanted to stick as original to your recipe as possible. I'm glad I did. It just works. It's not too prominent and pears up with the pair wonderfully.
As for what I changed, I had to use FA Meringue. If I was using Kentucky Bourbon, I imagine it would cut down on the sweetness from this flavor a good bit. However, when I remake this juice, if I don't have it yet, I'm going to cut Meringue down to 0.25%.
Conclusion: For everyone reading this, if you have these flavors. Mix this up. You will enjoy it.
Edit: If all your stuff tastes this good, you need to post more often.
Edit #2: Just gave this to my GF whom is a chef. She said it tastes like a Pear Peach Anglaise. I'm not sure what that is, but it sounds good to me.
This honestly just made my night. This is my second really successful recipe. Others that I've posted are good, but not great. Definitely still being worked on to get to the bar that Drunken Pears is going to set for myself. I think there are still some minor tweaks that I can make to this one, but as it stands, it's definitely the best thing I've come up with.
The alterations you've made probably keep it true to the flavour profile I get, considering you don't have the bourbon note in there yet. But yes, the meringue definitely helps keep everything smooth and warm.
The fact that your girlfriend said that is also boosting my "vapechef" ego through the roof. Knowing that the recipe tastes like that to an outside source really proves that I figured out this flavour profile.
Thanks again man, I'm glad you are enjoying it.
Maybe a little brown sugar extra to pick up the slack on the warm sweetness?
I am gonna have to try this. I remember my dad used to make a similar dessert with pears poached in red wine, and now I want to see if that would also make good juice.
Oh shit, pears poached in red wine sounds delicious. The acidity of the wine would play so well with the pears. Now I'm gonna have to try making that someday soon.
Not sure if you're willing to buy Medicine Flower, but abdada just mentioned that their Cab Sav is excellent a few days ago.

Not even a pear lover and this sounds delicious. Actually the dessert version does too :) Maybe try that as well :) Thanks for this!
Is TFA Meringue worth getting? Don't see it used a lot so it hasn't made it into my arsenal yet.
I love it. I use it so sparingly in my recipes, usually between 0.35% - 1% max. It just adds a little something. And when it's paired with Torrone, the combination adds this beautiful powdered sugar type note, is the best way I can describe it. I've seen some recipes that call for it at higher percentages (typically french toast type mixes) because it does add a bit of an eggy flavour to the mix when it's more prominent. Otherwise, I just note an airy sweetness.
Sounds pretty much like FA Meringue. Can't think of too many recipes that call for TFA's version. Have you tried both and decided on TFA for some unique quality? Or was it just what you had on hand?
I had to modify it a bit to suit my flavors, but I love it!
- .3% (TPA) Brown Sugar Extra
- 1.5% (CAP) Cinnamon Danish Swirl v2
- 2% (TPA) Kentucky Bourbon
- .5% (FA) Meringue
- 2% (TPA) Nectarine
- 4% (TPA) Pear
- .35% (FA) Torrone
- 2% (TPA) Vanilla Bean Gelato
- .5% (TPA) Vanilla Swirl
Thanks for the great recipe! I'll have to try your exact version in the future.
Oooh how does the nectarine flavour work with the pear? I reckon it's pretty similar to how peach works, but I've heard nectarine is a little smoother than the peach flavour. Looks good, and I'm glad you're enjoying it!
I'm still playing around with some percentages to bring the bourbon note up a little more without overpowering the mix. Might need to up the brown sugar as well because at that percent, it seems to be muted after a day steep.
The Nectarine flavor goes very well with the Pear. I've heard peach and nectarine taste very close, but the nectarine is a little better. The bourbon could use a little kick in this recipe, so I'll probably up the bourbon and brown sugar next time. Bourbon is pretty strong, so I always go up by .25% when needing more. The version I made is pretty creamy, so I'll probably take out some of the Vanilla Bean Gelato I used and replace it with bourbon and/or TPA French Vanilla v2. Can't wait to see this recipe progress.. it certainly has my interest.
I'll have to pick up some nectarine in my next order then and see what I can do with it. I love the juicy peach flavour, but it's a little harsh and gets weird when the percent gets too high. Good note on the bourbon, I figured I'd add it slowly, but having some note to go off of certainly helps.
I'm glad it interests you and you enjoy it. I was so surprised by this recipe. Mixed it up on a whim, barely any experience with most of the flavours used. I fully expected a gross sock/vomit taste on that first pull when I was testing it. Can't explain the joy I felt when it actually tasted great.
