On the prowl for a mild cream flavor
submitted over 9 years ago by slapofthebass

Hey guys, I'm looking for a cream flavor that lends more body to the final mix rather than flavor, so to speak. I've tried a lot of stellar fruit + cream vapes lately that just do it for me, mainly because the cream components were thick and rich, but not overbearing on the high end (like biscuity, cakey or vanillay). I'm experienced with tfa Bavarian cream, Vienna cream (not a fan) fa fresh cream, fw yellow cake, tfa sweet cream (not a fan), meringue (good for eggy flavor notes) tfa cheesecake graham crust and others. All of them seem to have their own niche, but I want something that just gives body to the mix with not much more. Any suggestions?

Have you tried TFA Whipped Cream?

Is it comparable to FA Fresh Cream?

No, it's lighter. Much lighter.

Would you say it 'tastes' like cream, or kinda 'feels' like cream in the mix; if you understand what I mean. So many creams are so tinny and thin, and I really don't like that.

I have not personally tried it yet, but I've read that Hangsen's Cream is quite rich and full. It's on my never ending wishlist.

Hangsen Italian Cream is incredible. I just worry about its diacetyl content. Creamiest flavor I think I've ever mixed with.

TFA sweet cream is pretty nasty at percentages higher than 2-3%, but it does add a lot of good mouth feel and a sort of fat creamy bottom layer to vapor.

Maybe try some Inawera creams, or FA Custard which is supposed to be lighter and with a bit more lemon to it than other custards.

Duly noted sir. Have you tried FA Marshmallow? I heard that may be a good direction for the ballpark I'm aiming in.

I haven't. It must be magical because every time I go to order some, it's sold out.

If you don't care about d/a/ap (which it seems like you don't from your flavor list) then I'd recommend TFA Marshmallow. Similar to FA's, but much thicker and would make for a better cream base.

FA's is good too, but it's more realistic to a fluffy marshmallow and not really a great "cream"

Edit: I should say both do not impart much of a flavor at lower %, but they are quite sweet so I wouldn't refer to them as "mild", to answer your post.

I honestly got nothing out of TFA Marshmallow. But I got myself a bottle of CAP Marshmallow and fell in love. It adds a sort of creamy sweetness similar to what you pick up on with the TFA version. What I love about the CAP version is that it adds the mouth feel of a sugary marshmallow that works beautifully in cream bases.

I much prefer TFA Marshmallow to FA, that rarely happens but in this case holds true

I'm going to impart what little knowledge I've picked up over the months of DIY and constantly failing with cream mixes. First off, ditch that FW Yellow Cake. It contains glucose/fructose which creates carcinogenic compounds when heated. I didn't know this until recently when I posted a doughnut recipe I'm working on and some of the more seasoned members of this sub informed me of the nasty shit that is in that flavour, as well as a whole mess of FW's lineup. Be careful with them.

Second, I find that TFA Cheesecake Graham Crust, CAP Vanilla Cupcake, CAP Marshmallow, and CAP Sweet Cream work perfectly for what you're looking for. TFA Cheesecake GC works great for the feel of cream with just a slight exhale of flavour if used in low percentages. Same with CAP Sweet Cream, I've heard a lot of praise for TFA Sweet Cream over CAP's version, but my TFA Sweet Cream was ruining all of my mixes. Dunno. Fianlly, using CAP Marshmallow in low percentages is a great way to add a creamy fluffy mouthfeel to the vape, while only adding a bit of sweetness to the flavour.

The best thing to do when using creams is be very mindful of how much you're actually using. One of the biggest mistakes I've made in DIY is using too much, almost without realizing it. When you get into the cream base being stronger than your fruits, you tend to mute all the flavours and just get a bland vape in general.

Hope this helps! Cheers!

Idk if I believe all the hype around the fw flavors sucrose thing. From what I've read it seems way overblown, you would have to practically scorch the juice to get the compounds to be created.

While I agree that it does need a pretty high temperature for it to be AS toxic as the studies have shown, I think it's more of the fact that you're still inhaling trace amounts, if that makes sense. As well as the fact that FW had made that information hidden for some time, if I remember correctly.

For me, and I'm sure plenty of others on here, DIY is about knowing as much as possible about what we're vaping, and trying to make the healthiest possible choices. Knowing that, even trace amounts of a toxic compound COULD be being inhaled is enough for me to steer clear.

I agree to an extent. If you are vaping 30ml of 10% yellow cake a day I'd probably steer clear, but the 1% or 3% in recipes that make it to part of my flavor rotation I'm less concerned.

I also really like yellow cake in bronuts and custards, so I want to believe it's in the realm of being alright lol

Vanilla Swirl 1-2% for sure

give it a day to sit, and it adds a fullness with very little vanilla flavor.

have a look for milk flavours on e liquid recipes, possibly what you're going for?

Base of my lemon cream is

TPA dairy 6%ml TPA sweetcream 3% ml TPA vanilla bean icecream 3% TPA bavarian cream 3%

tastes between creamy and milk, requires a 2week steep time but is quite tasty after a day or so. but that's jus tme. possibly add 1-2% of cheesecake from TPA and it becomes really creamy. you will need a fruit flavour or two to work against (i use 1.5% lemon and 3% lime on top from jacvapour)

edit* TPA = TFA

>The way I analogize it is that if bass and treble were represented by richness and lightness, I'm looking for a mellow bass register cream lol.

in that respect i think the different creams fill different parts of the spectrum which leave for a fuller flavour without overbearing in other areas, but that may just be me

TFA Whipped Cream is what you're looking for.
