Where do I start?
That recipe really sucked. I had a friend who wanted my blueberry french toast without the blueberry. I mixed it and I realized it was all wrong. Most of the flavors were there, but it was all out of sync. My critical error in this was that I worked the recipe backwards. I started with the blueberry which I intentionally made overpowering due to the way my inspiring food tasted.
Revisiting this recipe and redesigning it from the base flavor up, I came up with this. Before I forget, I have to give /u/Enyawreklaw some major credit. I borrowed heavily from his recipe Top of New York when I realized he had already figured out some of the stuff I had not.
Blueberry French Toast|% ---|--- Acetyl Pyrazine|0.25 Almond (FA)|0.5 Bilberry (FA)|.5 Blueberry Wild (TPA)|1 Brown Sugar Extra (TPA)|0.5 Caramel (FA)|0.5 Cinnamon Danish Swirl (CAP)|0.5 French Toast (CAP)|1.5 Sugar Cookie (CAP)|0.5 Vanilla Swirl (TPA)|1 Waffle (CAP)|3
First impressions, damn that's a lot of ingredients. If I can find a good maple syrup flavor, that would cut down a few of the ingredients for sure. Ok, now lets get to what this recipe does right that the other one did wrong.
The French Toast - When I took the blueberry out, I realized the old recipe was rather light. Not a heavy enough of a mouth feel. The Cinnamon Danish Swirl with the waffle made it too light. I cut the danish swirl down to 0.5% and waffle down to 3%. Having both of these flavors too high increased the airiness of the juice to a point of it tasting more like a puffed pastry instead of a dense, rich french toast. Increased CAP French Toast to 1.5%. This is really pushing the limits of about how high you want to take this flavor, otherwise you start to get a fried egg off-flavor. However, since this is part of the flavor profile we want, it will be alright for this recipe. AP and almond help lend to the overall complexity of the bready flavor which I have found hard to nail down. FA Cookie also gives us a nice buttery sweetness and crunch like would you want in the crust of a french toast.
The Wash - CAP French Toast does a good job of giving us the cinnamon, nutmeg, and fried egg, in addition to getting an extra boost of cinnamon from Cinnamon Swirl. We are still getting our creaminess from Vanilla Swirl, which is also giving us vanilla. I tried VBIC in this roll, but it's just too creamy and makes the mouth feel too heavy in the wrong way. It still tasted very good, but it just wasn't right.
Topping - Blueberry/Bilberry. These got reduced a bit as to not completely overpower everything else. I also added some maple syrup with the addition of Brown Sugar Extra/Caramel/Almond. Don't know what I can say about this combo that Wayne didn't mentioned in his flavor notes. It's very rich and complex which adds to the overall flavor of the juice.
Well, that's it.
My friend and I both agree this is a far superior combination of flavors. I personally don't think it's perfect, but I think that about all of my juices. And since people have recently been telling me that they've been going through my post history, I wanted to do the honor of giving them something worth making.
I know we just had this conversation yesterday, but I might as well come clean: my Blueberry French Toast was also heavily influenced by Wayne's Top of New York. This is the second recipe where you really hit on something that I was doing. It is pretty cool. Makes me feel like I was on the right track. Something about Wayne's recipe just made me think it would be perfect for this flavor.

People like Wayne make me feel dumb.
After I mixed up NotCharlesManson's Royal Butterscotch and let it steep for a week, it just melted my face off. Sooooo good. Taking a realistic step back, I never would have went the direction he did with those ingredients.
I agree. When I talk to people about my line when I am in shops who want to carry it, they talk about how great everything is compared to what they sell and I am sitting there going "thank God these people don't know Wayne or Manson" :-)
Looks good. Maple Syrup by itself is a tough flavor overall -- I actually like RF French Toast because it has a more unique maple profile.
I'll have to try this since CAP is discontinuing their French Toast.
WHAT?! Thanks for the heads up. I must have missed that some how.
Can't wait to try this!! Do you have an account on eliquidrecipes?
I do, but all my stuff is set to private.
Understandable, thanks for sharing your knowledge and recipes on here!
I just jumped into building coils, and then that lead me down the rabbit hole to DIY ejuice lol. I've made a couple juices off of others recipes but want to try and creating my own from scratch as soon as I get a better understanding of flavors and how they compliment each other.
What about possibly adding TFA RY4 double at around 2-3%?
Dang, I thought about that but forgot to try it. Thank you!
Daaaammmmnnnnnnn verve be putting in work! Just added a few things to the list so I can try this eventually
Shit, I just live a boring life, that's all. Making e-juice is an escape from my 9-6 job. Oh, and getting drunk. A lot.
Do you happen to have the recipe for the version without blueberry? Or should I just wing it and pull the blueberry and bilberry out?
