Online Tool Suggestion: Answer to "What Recipes Can I Make?"

I know there are already at least 1 other service like this (ELR), but I tend to like the simplicity this tool offers. My biggest complaint of ELR is that if you have to have an account and if you only have one brand of strawberry, it doesn't show you recipes that use other brands of strawberry. To me, strawberry is strawberry!

You simple select the flavors you have (brand doesn't matter) and it populates the recipes you can make. Then all you do is adjust nicotine levels, batch size and you have your final recipe.

I think this is a great tool for people just starting out. You can decide for yourself. Their calculator is also nice looking.

I think the criticism that different flavors and brands do indeed make a difference is valid, but I'd just like to point out that this is a neat tool for getting a general idea of what I can try to make.

So much this. Even if a recipe calls for a flavor that I don't have, I'd like to see recipes that still include flavors that exist under the same umbrella. This can at least help begin to spark some creativity or ideas that I may otherwise have lacked.

I can't check this out now because I'm at work and the site is blocked, but I plan on hitting it up for some inspiration later. Thanks for the share!

Following recipes will only take you so far. Editing them and improvising let's you know how far you've come.

I agree...I primarily like to find & use recipes to get an idea of what kinds of flavors go well together. I can think to myself that I'd like to vape something with Pineapple, Coconut, Watermelon, & Cream, and try to just put it together on my own...or I can save myself a lot of time by finding another instance in which someone had success with that combination, and build off of it from there. There's nothing barring me from just starting from scratch on my own, but 90% of the time, that results in a 1st (and sometimes 2nd) batch that is not very good.

I've run into that too. Gotta take the good with the bad. Usually it's not un-vapeable, it's just not what I wanted, and I know that I won't go for it like a flavor I like.

I agree with this to an extent, mostly because people may list things incorrectly, and thus there are like 20 versions of strawberry ripe that people may have typed in incorrectly. That is my least favorite part about updating my stash is figuring out which brand/flavoring is the right version to select.

Hell, I sometimes buy a different brand of a particular flavor just for the hell of it. The result does taste different, not always better, but I haven't regretted it yet.

I think it's a nice starting point, due to the simplicity, but different flavors from different brands definitely taste different. If you really want to make something good, you can't just use any strawberry.

Yes agreed. Once you have an understanding of which brands have the best of each flavor you will want something more complex.

Without shilling myself again, I'm hoping to have a pretty comprehensive "what can I make" tool reasonably soon.

I doubt there will ever be a useful cross-vendor sub suggestion tool, because even expert mixers will tell you you can't do that. A computer certainly can't do it for you.

Haven't really dug into this website, but from what I see, it doesn't indicate the manufacturers for the flavors. It just says "banana", "banana cream", "bavarian cream"...no indication of TFA, CAP, LA etc. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough?

Also, I'll have to disagree that strawberry is strawberry no matter what. TFA straw is no where near straw ripe. Both are tasty, but not the same and often can't be substituted for one another. FLV straw tastes like nasty medicine to me.

Edit: Oh, I think you are trying to say that the different brands aren't listed for a reason?

Correct its more of a general flavor list. Although it does appear that Strawberry Ripe is listed separately from Strawberry since they really are different tastes (we can all agree)

Great website -- but I do think brand names should be included.

I've been playing with exactly this idea but your site's layout is fantastic. Would love to see it also add recipes that are missing 1 or 2 ingredients.

I agree with you, if you could see the recipes you can ALMOST make, that would be dope. I have to imagine the logic behind that would be really difficult to figure out.

I was working on that for the past few months with my own code and recipes I like but it's a real server cruncher.

I'm hoping that /u/queuetue adds that feature to his/her/its ATF app.

Looks like a good start for the new mixer. The kit is pricey, like all starter kits, but still much less expensive than "premium" e-liquids. A new mixer can fill up the three 30ml bottles (and a lot more) for $70.

The demo video seemed to show cross contamination of the concentrates using the same syringe.

I would be nice to have an account and a memory of what concentrates a user has.

I though the same thing, but realized that the URL updates with your selection. (ie: http://www.whitecloudsvaping.com/recipes/filter/115,72,117,319,371,101) So you could bookmark that.

I have a similar problem with ELR. I use the DX or diketone free alternatives to TFA/TPA so i need to add the originals to my stash also because hardly anyone on elr uses the diketon free concentrates.
