I'm a frequent browser of this sub and occasional poster.. this is my alt account for programming.
This project won't go stale as long as there's indications that people are using it. In the works are many new features such as saved recipes, printable format, and native apps for OSX, Windows, and Linux. Take a look in the "About" section for the full roadmap.
If you have feedback, don't hesitate to share!
Edit: Added a "Readable / Printable" toggle with adjustable font sizing.
Seems like a great calculator! Simple and easy to use, I also like the arrow up and down options. I've just gotten started with DIY and have been using syringes measuring in ml, do you think measuring by weight is better?
Yes.
Measuring by weight is much more accurate, and most people agree with me on this.
You'll need a scale that measures to 0.01g accuracy though. I have this one.
It's easier and more accurate to measure by weight. Once you get into it, I recommend trying to get ingredients that have squirt or drip tops, and get droppers for any flavors that come in glass bottles. Once you do that, you won't have to wash any pipettes or syringes ever again, and mixing is no longer a chore. Make sure to get some squirt bottles or similar for your PG, VG and nic so you can make your base quickly, and get some 50,100, 150ml, etc plastic bottles to quickly make large batches of juice. You'll never look back.
Thanks for the advice man! I know that CAP has drip tips, I got all my flavors from TPA. Any flavors you recommend? Also where do you larger bottles like that?
I was fortunate enough to receive a bunch of sample bottles from a company a while ago for my business, I've been using those. I also happened to have some squirt caps that fit them, and some dropper caps that fit the TPA glass bottles. If you google a bit you should be able to find some suppliers that can provide all of the things. Just be sure that the plastic is rated to deal with chemicals, acids and foods, otherwise certain flavors might destroy the bottles or leech chemicals from them.
It's decent, appreciate the effort. Although you do have some spelling errors there like "millileters" and "nictine base".
I would absolutely love a Linux app. I just turned a slow Windows netbook into a speed demon Linux box. I couldn't find a simple Linux ejuice calculator. I mean any mixture calculator will work, but of course I want one tailored to ejuice. Keep it up brah!
Very clean and easy to read. Probably won't get me to leave http://chukr.xyz but it's nice to have choice. Good job!
My initial calculations indicate that they are off just a slight bit, but there isn't an apparent way to change the weights (as far as I can see).
It does appear that they are accounting for the weight difference of nicotine within the base liquid though, which is good.
Use the tool that fits your style best. Mix on!
edit: They are off a slight bit from my calculations because my VG/PG weights are different from their non-configurable weights.
Earlier today I actually checked their weight calculations against the weight calculations I have in "JuiceCalculator" (where I got specific gravity out of TFA's MSDS) and they were spot on.
If you check the weight options in my app you'll see what I'm talking about. Everyone seems to have a different opinion on the exact weight of VG and PG, so I have some presets for the most common.
The weights directly from the manufacturer of my VG/PG are different from everything I've seen online (although not by a large margin) and also different from the "JuiceCalculator".
Again, these are not large differences so it might be a bit much to fret over, but my OCD wants it to be as close as possible.
Is there a good iPhone app for this? I recently switched from android which had a good one, but haven't had much luck on the apple App Store.
I'm working on native offline apps (Windows, OSX and Linux first), and if there's enough interest I'll add an iOS and Android app to the roadmap.
I'm not aware of a native iOS app currently, but in the mean time I'll be improving the web interface to be even more mobile friendly.
It's really clean and simple, and from the comments, accurate. But you need to work on the formatting for printing recipes. I dont have a computer next to my mixing area in the garage, I print the recipe and take it and a cup of coffee out there to mix.
Still prefer eJuiceCalculator. I love being able to see the price of my Juices, and it's great for organizing and keeping tabs on your recipes, though I've been lazy in actually writing notes.
Tell me please how can i add minus of VG? Test your shit before release not just copypasting code.
This is v1.
I knew about this before launch, and it's in my todo list, but validation wasn't something that was as high in priority as getting all the calculations accurate. It's a calculator, it'll spit out whatever you put in.
Go ahead and reverse search any of my code and see what you find. I'm not hiding the source code at all and it's GIT licensed.
