So I made up this mix of Hawaiian Punch Bubble Gum and noticed that it tasted a lot better on the Velocity with the eyes a little open. I usually run the Velocity closed.
Does this mean I have too much flavor for the mix? It's MAX VG and is as follows:
30ML - 2MG
- Nic (24 in 70VG/30PG) - 8.33%
- PG - 0
- VG - 74.17%
- TFA Sweetener - 3%
- TFA Hawaiian Drink - 7.5%
- TFA Bubble Gum - 7.0%
Flavor is at 17.5%. How do I adjust the recipe to get the nice flavor I get with the airflow a little more open?
Thanks!
edit: had a % off by .5
I've noticed that I tend to enjoy the flavor more when I have the airflow wide open, but am able to taste more of the nuances and what not with the eyes closed. I think I'm just used to a cooler, more airy vape so with the eyes closed it seems a little harsh to me. There are certain recipes where I will close it off or use a different atty to fully appreciate it, but for the most part I rock it wide open. 17.5% is a bit high, and it's a little heavy on the sucralose, so that could be why it tastes better on a more airy set-up, since your palate isn't being as heavily slammed with sweetness and flavor
I can't taste my juice with full open. Clouds are an instant way to lose flavor.
Depends on the dripper.. Full open on a Doge1/2? Good luck with flavor without claptons.
Full open on the mutation xs or royal hunter? No issues with ANY type of coil I've tried.
Bigger clouds = more aerosolized aromatic compounds, btw. Thicker clouds = more concentrated aerosolized aromatic compounds.
Came to say this. A big part of it that people forget that awhile airflow is a factor to flavor, chamber size is also a large portion. The Royal Hunter is a good example of this, as well as its much shorter drip tip means the vapor travels much less distance, and loses less flavor in the process.
Identical builds in my royal hunter will always beat my velocity, with airflow set evenly.
Well the high heat generated when going low sub ohm tends to mute the flavors.
Then your heat flux is too high & steam-engine can help you fix that until you get away from that mech of yours.
I never had issues with .05 or. 15 builds on mechs muting flavors; it's all about how you build & wick & airflow & & surface area of the coil & the kind of dripper you use.
I still have no issues with .04Ω twisted titanium temp control at 70-120W or .2Ω dual claptons no temp control same wattage.
it depends on the juice for me. some recipes, like certain custard/fruit juices, I can only get the high notes with my usual build/airflow on my velocity. I either have to open up the airflow a bit, or lower the wattage so the high notes are not as strong.
That might be it if I'm understanding your correctly. With the eyes on the velocity closed, the recipe tastes more Hawaiian Punchy... which is almost like a throat hit. When I open the eyes up, it's much more smooth. Would that be considered a High Note Muting?
could be. never tried tfa Hawaiian punch, but it sounds like bold flavor. one juice I have to cut down the flavor percentage or open up the airflow is raspberry custard. the raspberry is too strong of a flavor with my normal settings, which causes it to mute out any cream. if I put it in a tank where the wattage is lower the flavors harmonize better. a loose comparison is whisky tasting by adding a drop or two of water so the subtle flavors come out more.
what you can also try if you'd rather vape your normal style is dropping the percentage of the recipe or the Hawaiian Punch down a bit.
Typically I've noticed that flavor is a lot stronger when you back the airflow off a bit. Enjoying flavors is what got me off cigs and into vaping. My clouds might not chuck the tits or whatever, but I'm more of a flavor junkie than a cloud chaser.
EDIT: I might add that unless you're dripping, it's a bit more difficult to get strong flavor out of a tank with a VG above 70% because it just doesn't wick as well.
I think it all come down to the RDA you are using.
Troll RDA fully open...zero flavor.
Twisted messes rda fully open...flavor city.
The jaybo is a good rda if you want to switch from the most open airflow possible all the way down to small tight flow.
> Troll RDA fully open...zero flavor.
strongly disagree. build matters. vaping a dual fused clapton on a troll with the stock afc ring replaced with a normal chuff cap. wide open, flavor for days.
get pretty good flavor with twisted builds in it too
Naw man.
The troll doesn't have holes big enough to fit framed staples and similar wider coils in there so the flavor is just weak compared to say the Jaybo Indestructible which is just as airy as a troll but you can fit monster coils in it.
I will fight you over this. :D jk
