Aussie diy-ers - which weight scale?
submitted over 9 years ago by iamactuallyanandroid

Hi all, I know its 3am in Aussie atm but hoping someones either awake that knows or will see this tmr.

Recently made the switch to diy after almost 5 years of vaping and spend a shit ton on premixes and shipping. I've been wanting to for a while and finally had the balls to go all in.

I've done a lot of research and please forgive me if someone's asked this, I couldn't find it through search. The recommended American weight scales unfortunately do not ship to Australia via amazon prime so instead I've opted for another with a 2min auto power off (best I could find). Do any of you know any other scales without an auto power off function that ships to Australia?

that 2 min auto power is the only one mentioned

One of you Aussies just needs to buy 50 LB-501s and resell them for 50% over cost.

Guess I picked the right one then. Ill only be making small amounts so if I mess up won't lose that much.

I wouldn't mind paying a premium, maybe I should consider

I had a look and that scale is around $80. If you want to spend less you could get the aws-100 scale. It's about $30 on ebay. I use the aws-70 scale and it seems fairly easy to use and still works after some abuse. I have been using the same batteries for over a year now and they still work. The aws-100 can measure up to 200g which is more than enough if you mix for yourself. Just something to consider.

Fasttech has a scale that you can use for DIY if you don't mind waiting.

I use this scale (bought from ebay because I didn't want to wait) and it works perfectly. The cut off time is 90 seconds and I've never had a problem with it timing out on me since I always have everything on hand before I start.

I got the one recommended in the DIY subreddit (501) just yesterday night, Amazon ships overseas quite "cheap". Comes with weights to set it up and even batteries, would totally recommend.

I got this one delivered without having to order from overseas:

http://www.klika.com.au/digital-pocket-scales-200gm-x-0-01.html

It was $8.61 with free delivery! It switches off after a minute or so but pressing the Tare button that resets the weight also resets the timer. I figured it was worth a shot at 8 bucks and I haven't had any probs with it timing out during mixing I just make sure I have everything ready.
