OK, so I have searched the threads and nothing really comes up. Has anyone tried *TFA DX Coconut Candy? How is it?
I have tried INW Coconut, TFA Coconut and FA Coconut, none of them have the taste that I am looking for. I basically want a desiccated coconut taste, which I assume I can create using one of the aforementioned coconuts along with a more candy style coconut flavour.
On a side note, the flavour of the week thread, can people start adding reviews of the different brands of that flavour that they have tried? (Instead of it just being a recipe thread) Obviously along with recipes containing the flavour of the week. I know ELR has flavour notes, but they are pretty limited, everything FA is just a copy and paste of HIC's praise.
TFA coconut candy is ok in very small amounts. TFA coconut candy DX taste like sun tan lotion mixed with garbage.
So far, FLV coconut is my go to coconut flavor. Still not great, but certainly the best.
I have heard good things about FLV, but I am trying to steer clear of DA/AP until I can do a decent mouse inhalation experiment. Did you try just Coconut or Sweet Coconut?
What percentage did you use the suntan lotion/garbage at? I am guessing I am only going to use a small percentage of it, as it is just to add some sweetness/holiday feel to the more 'natural' taste of the other coconut.
I use FLV sweet coconut.
TFA coconut candy DX was used around 1%. Now that I think about it, the taste was more that of sun tan lotion and cardboard, not garbage. That was just where it ended up.
depending on what you're mixing, INW coconut cookies might work. it has a profile of a macaroon, so sweet dried coconut with a baked good undertone. also find it kind of light for a INW flavor.
Had not heard of this flavour, Sounds interesting! Should be good In quite a few recipes in all fairness, could be a great addition. I will add it to my shopping list. For this particular recipe it may be too subtle (Coconut Mango Rice type thing), but cheers for the heads up on the flavour.
I use it and like it a lot. BUT it is a strong flavor. .5% to 1.5% max. This is a supporting flavor that I feel is best with another coconut like tfa or flv. I love the richness it adds to mixes as well as a smooth feel in your mouth.
Nice one, that is what I wanted to hear! I plan on using it with FA coconut, that way it should be creamy and sweetly potent. Cheers.
It's realllllllllly good with FA coconut. That's my particular go to.
I'm currently working with FLV Sweet Coconut in a coconut cookie recipe, so far it's best I've tried in this recipe. It's a true sweet, nutty flavor without coming off as cloying.

at high levels its "coconut" but it should add toasty notes by itself
Not sure I can get that over here (UK), but that is some great detective work! imagine a picture of Columbo here Just one more thing... If I do get some of this stuff, do you have any idea on mixing with PG and the potency?
If you email them theyll have proper measurements. For my beta damascone it was like 1 drop per 50 ml (super potent stuff)
You can probably buy it from chemical supply stores and just mix it with pg yourself.
