I feel like such an idiot. I just recently took up the recommendation to start mixing by weight, and purchased this highly recommended scale.
Unfortunately, when I followed a link to it, it sent me straight to the 3000g version. Being completely ignorant, I didn't even think that not being able to measure down to the hundredth of a gram would be a problem. I was so wrong.
The 3000g version is nearly impossible to mix accurately with. It doesn't even seem to register weight until you get to the .2 - .3 range, and if your recipe calls for anything weighed to the hundredth of a gram...you're going to have to guess.
So...just wanted to throw this out there so people may avoid making the same mistake I did. It was an honest one for me; I just wasn't paying attention.
No offense but cant you return it? I dont really know amazon return policies well. But yeah, .01 definitely kinda matters.
I use the same 100g gram .01 accuracy scale I use for weed to do my mixing. It's accurate but I guess I can only mix about 60-80ml at a time but whatever. One day I'll cough up for a better scale.
Anyone know of a vendor who ships this scale internationally?
I don't know right off hand but definitely check eBay if all else fails. Search the term AWS LB-501. I saw a couple of sellers willing to ship internationally. It may cost more though.
Thanks! I'm sure even with the shipping cost it will still be cheaper than buying one here in SA. Roughly R3000 (about $200) to get a scale that does the same as the AWS LB-501. We aren't allowed to have nice things :(
I bought a cheaper scale and saved myself $10. Within a week and a half my measurements started overflowing bottles. Occasionally it would start measuring poltergeists in the room; numbers that should have read around .25 would start swinging rapidly to over 30g and down into the negatives before shooting back up again. Today I ordered the scale you just recommended, which everyone seems to recommend. I even paid an extra $5 to get it next day. Lesson (re)learned.
