[Help] Blueberry Cupcake
submitted over 9 years ago by BrosGrimm

I've been trying to do a cupcake for a while and was hoping for some help from more experienced mixers.

Right now the recipe is:

4% FLV Blueberry Muffin

5% TFA DX Vanilla Cupcake

2% CAP Vanilla Cupcake V2

2% CAP Whipped Cream

2% TFA Acai

I'm not getting a very cake-like flavor off of it. It feels a little thin and inaccurate. I'm trying to avoid diketones and I understand that is part of the problem, but would really like to make it diketone-free. I'm also trying to avoid Yellowcake after learning about the sugar content.

Any suggestions on other flavors to try or additives that could push it in the right direction?

Ya know, you wouldn't have to type out [Help] if you used the recipe help flair ;)

How about Capella Cake Batter? Or FW Cake Batter Dip? There's also TFA Vanilla Cupcake. Even TFA Oatmeal Cookie could help.

Tfa vanilla cupcake & cap cake batter both contain diketones and FW cake batter dip has fructose in it. Tfa Oatmeal cookie may help though; can you describe it's flavor a little bit? Thanks

I think Oatmeal Cookie or Sugar Cookie will help immensely with that cakey feel you're looking for. It's not as much about the flavour of it, as it is the body that it gives the recipe. You may want to try replacing your DX Vanilla Cupcake with either of those cookie flavours. Having the CAP vanilla cupcake is going to give enough of that flavour mixed with the Blueberry Muffin, I think. Adding the cookie will give you a nice body to the recipe. Oatmeal Cookie will give less sweetness than Sugar Cookie, so I would base your decision off of how sweet you want the mix to be.

Also, avoiding the diketones is good, but I've noticed that any of the DX versions of flavours really does something weird to the mix. I have been using DX Bavarian Cream for months and I was always wondering why I was getting this really weird, almost cheese-y flavour to my mixes. Then I tried a batch with just regular Bav Cream and it was a world of difference. So while avoiding the diketone flavours is a good thing, that may also be why you're not getting what you want, flavour-wise.

I just picked up some FA Cookie, do you think it would have the "cakey" effect as well?

Original Sugar Cookie has ap, right? That's why they have a V2? I've tried their V2 and been pretty disappointed in the past.

Gremlin's take on a cupcake ejuice; uses TFA Vanilla Cupcake at 10%

I also use DX Vanilla Cupcake at 8-10%. My insight would be to stick to 3 flavours and let those flavours speak for themselves before adding to many flavourings. Also, test each of your cupcake concentrates as stand alone recipes. See what percentages and what concentrates produce the yellow sponge cake flavour you are searching for.

My recipe suggestion:

  • Blueberry Muffin (FLV) 3-4%

  • DX Vanilla Cupcake (TFA) 8-10%

  • Acai (TFA) 1-2%

Vanilla Cupcake seems to completely mute any flavor I might come up with. No idea why though.

How many flavours are you using with it and what percentages? if you can share some examples I may be able to help or share my experience.

Here's an example of what I was working on since the White Gremlin recipe had 0 taste for me:

Flavor| % ---|--- TFA Vanilla Cupcake| 6 TFA Strawberry Ripe | 4 TFA Marshmallow | 1 FA Meringue | 1 TFA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream | 2

I was also trying to get FW White Chocolate at the same % to work in that mix instead of VBIC.

Either way I get basically no flavor.

Thanks. There's something to be said about K.I.S.S.

1% cookie

0.4% AP

0.6% vanillin

1% brown sugar

1% catalan cream

3% dx cupcake (I use something else but this would probably work)

1-2 drops sweetener per 10ml if desired (this is pretty much my rule of thumb with everything)
