10:1:1 sour/tart mix - I searched and sidebarred.

Getting together an order - saw a post about a 10:1:1 mix of citric, malic, tartaric acids that I cant seem to find again. It was a custom sour/tart additive and i need the proper order of acids to make this right. Anyone know where that post is?

Thanks - I got this from /u/stininja: Paging /u/abdada. I know he uses a blend of the three. EDIT It was posted in the links provided. From /u/abdada himself - I make my own "sour blend" which is Citric acid to Malic Acid in a 10:1 ratio, and then I add Tartaric Acid to that.

Blend varies by what you're trying to amplify, flavor wise. There's no singular solution. Some fruits do better with malic, others with citric.

So..got some citric acid today. Put a few grains on my tounge, Damn Gina! Then vaped a cherry mix I was testing. Instant sour cherry! Only problem was when I went back to my current ADV (caramel tobacco) I couldn't taste it. Temporary vapers tongue! Can't wait to mix this weekend.

does this magic ratio of 10:1:1 consist of PG solutions individually containing 10% citric acid, 10% malic acid & 10% tartaric acid?

from what i understand "TFA Sour" is 20% malic acid, so, if i'm using that, does that make the ratio 10:2:1, if the citric and tartaric acid are both at 10%? or would i just need to use half the amount of TFA Sour in my 10:1:1 mixture (making it almost a 10:0.5:1 ratio?)

sorry if i'm over-thinking this, i'm just trying to figure this out and was wondering what the potency of each ratio was.

also, say i'm making a recipe that originally asks for "0.05% TFA Sour" but i want to experiment with the recipe and implement this 10:1:1 ratio... how much citric & tartaric acid should i add to the TFA Sour/recipe to achieve the magic ratio, all while still maintaining the Sour's 0.05%?

(i'm trying to make my dream "green apple jolly rancher.")

Well, /u/abdada has been experimenting with lower citric acid concentrations and their effects on flavor. I am working on a sour cherry and the 10:1:1 isnt doing it. I am going to make some 1:20:1 citric, malic, tartaric for this flavor. As to your question for 10:1:1 with a base of TFA sour at 20% - you could take .5 ml of TFA sour, ad 9.5 ml of pg or vg or both - then add 1 gram of citric acid and .1 gram of tartaric. you would have the 10:1:1 mix.
