back when muffin man first came out i bought into it just like a lot of you probably did. My first hit of that stuff made my eyes roll back in my head it was so good. although, half a tank in i got a dry hit, i went to inspect my build and it was caked in black char. less than 30mls of the stuff, i swore it off forever because it was packed with sucralose, destroyed coils and after seeing past the mirage of the sweetness and price of the juice, it was pretty two dimensional. so i started my quest to clone the stuff, but better yet make it more dynamic without adding any sweeteners. so here it is..

i never really got any muffin flavor from muffin man, just apple and cinnamon with a touch of brown sugar. after failing over and over to find a good muffin base i decided to switch gears and go apple cinnamon cookie. TFA's Oatmeal cookie fit perfectly, a rich cinnamon-y almost cakelike cookie. then to build up the apple pie note. TFA's apple pie was good, but i decided to bump it up a bit with FA apple pie as well. Ive tired both by themselves but i settled on a mix of the two. next was the bright apple flavor, you get on the inhale. FA fuji was my go to, but it was a little too familiar to me because it works its way into a lot of my recipes. I decided to accent it with some FA pear just to make it new and exciting. This became the first iteration of the mix witch honestly was pretty good, but after about 60ml i got bored of it and went back to the drawing board. the cookie needed more. on a whim i added some FA almond and some CAP sugar cookie to add some buttery-ness and to "harden" the cookie and make more like a hard cookie rather than a moist cakey cookie. some TFA vanilla custard added more mouthfeel and a touch of vanilla. after picturing what this would look like in real life the only part that was missing was caramel drizzled all over the top and since i was out of FA caramel at the time, i decieded to try one of the caramel flavors i dont use so often, TFA caramel original and bam. the juice muffin man wishes it was.
now here's the crazy part. its a shake n vape! well ok not the best or most simple shake n vape, but the important part is it is totally vapable after just a heat bath and it only gets better with age. after the first week the cookie gets more rich, the almond comes out more, the brightness of the fruits and apple pie settle a bit and the custard gets a bit more noticeable.
im really proud of this mix, it holds the same notes that Muffin man had but adds to them and goes the extra mile. Id love some feedback on this mix.
I'm drunk as hell right now and reading this post inspired me to make a pretty large purchase on flavours. So in a few days, I will be able to mix this up. Very excited to try it. It sounds delicious.
Alright, I'll be mixing this up in a few minutes. Totally pysched.
hope you dig it as much as i do.
How does yours compare with /u/ENYAWREKLAW 's http://diyordievaping.com/2015/08/18/apple-butter-oatmeal-cookie/ ?
i have made his before and i like it. but the biggest difference here is going to be the TFA oatmeal cookie, it completely changes the cookie base from a buttery cookie to a dark brown sugar oatmeal cookie. also the amount of fuji is going to completely change the flavor, at 2.5% its one of the main notes at .25 in mine, its very subtle and just enhances the other fruits that are already there.
I was actually supposed to create another version of my recipe with TFA oatmeal cookie but malaise set in. I can't wait to try yours though, shit looks good. I like that touch of Pear in there.
> also the amount of fuji is going to completely change the flavor, at 2.5% its one of the main notes at .25 in mine
Your recipe has it at 0.10 - should it be 0.25?
sounds fabulous btw and I've got everything for it - so on the list it goes =)
How much sucralose would you add , or do you think they have in the muffin man? How long would you think it takes to steep?
I've tried various amounts plus EM and am having no such luck with other recipes. ; (
im sure they have about 3-5% sucralose in their recipe. i personally dont like sucralose in my recipes, it gums up coils and just over sweetens it no matter what. imo this recipe is sweet enough, but if you have a sweet tooth, i would say add a bit of EM maybe .3% and bump up the caramel original another 1% and steep for about a week that should sweeten this up quite a bit.
Are you sure about the 3-5% suctalose? Why not 3-5% EM? I have tried both and they seem to kill all my recipies, so I was almost wondering if they were using that "super sucralose" at maybe 1%.
I'm totally lost when it comes to EM vs Sucralose as it doesn't seem to enhance anything and just drowns out flavors, even the great recipies available here.
Perhaps I need to let it steep a lot longer?
You mentioned you would normally use FA Caramel - do you think it would work in this instead of the TPA caramel?
i think it would just sweeten it up and blend into all the other dark sugar flavors in the recipe. FA caramel to me is more of like a syrupy caramelized sugar flavor. caramel original seems to stand out on its own as a Werthers original, butterscotchy caramel drizzle kind of flavor. if sure it would work fine, but its just not going to be the same.
While I don't have the Apple pies, oatmeal, and caramel, you've inspired me to make a recipe, using either FA Biscuit or Cookie, and TFA Pie crust as some substitutes in conjunction with the other flavors to possibly create something good. May have to bump up the Fuji a little and the TFA Custard for some more spice.
I love you. I wanted desperately to use oatmeal cookie in something. and pear. I haven't used either of those. I am excite.
Lol thanks man, I kinda did the same thing. I got oatmeal cookie cause it was just released at the time and it sat on my flavor rack for almost a month before I found a use for it or even tasted it. It's a pretty awesome flavor IMO. FA pear is very concentrated and the weird part is the "texture" of a pear comes through. In this recipe tho it just enhances the Apple note
