I have been looking into this problem for a month now! To no avail. I ordered 100mg/ml nicotine suspended in vg, from ecigexpress and 6mg/ml recipes up to 12mg/ml are so harsh. I cannot even vape 12mg mixes. The vendor says it isn't the nicotine, but I am not so sure. I have tried adding cotton candy, I have tried a mix with no flavoring. I have tried just aging without a hot water bath. 12mg/ml is my spot but at this point the only dose I can vape is 3mg which just doesn't do it for me. I am a beginner in DIY but not to vaping so it isn't my setup. I am mixing by weight so I'm not adding too much. I am at a loss right now. 0mg nic is great on the flavor. I have made some very good mixes but when I add nic they turn to crap. I have read and read and read some more. I have tried vinegar, and lemon-lime. I would love some help on this issue to get me back up to 12mg.
All these harsh nicotine posts latel make me so glad I got mine in PG.
How else are you supposed to get 90VG for clouds though bro? Heh
I don't get it either. It's just asking for trouble.
I don't necessarily go for clouds. I just try to stay away from strong throat hits. I like an 80/20 vg/pg mix or a 70/30. With the flavoring % i stay around 75/25 - 80/20 vg/pg. Still harsh though with the nic and all.
The nicotine is clear. I do shake it up. I have it broken down into 3 containers, two in the freezer and sealed and one in a dark, cool box, also sealed. The nicotine in the freezer is 100mg/ml in vg and the one in the box has been mixed down to 60mg/ml in vg. It smells fine, not very potent really. I have NOT tested it.
So you diluted it down to 60 mg nic first? No problem there - I do the same (to 50mg, but whatever) I would buy a nic test kit and make sure you're getting the levels you expect in both you 60 mg nic solution and your final products. VG being so thick really requires a lot of mixing/shaking.
okay so shake some more and get a test kit. Got it. I need to get something to shake this stuff for me. Any suggestions?
I didn't even need to read your post. I read the title and knew you were using VG nic. Harsh nic is a problem that everyone has when using VG. Shake it. When you think you got it, shake it again, twice as long this time. Then let it sit until the bubbles are gone. Then shake it again. And again, and again, and again.... See a pattern? LOL
You'll hear from most of us that VG Nic is a PITA and usually has issues. (Read up on hotspots)
Other than that, I had the same issue with my first large Nic order from EcigEx- second time I just went with Nude Nic instead.
GL bud, in a pinch you could always order a small 15ML bottle of sealed Nic (PG) from the same place- see if theres any difference :/
Yeah. I am ordering a sample from nude nic but I think I ordered vg again. I need to get a sawzall or something to help me mix. What do you think about a cheap milk frother from amazon? Think that would help mix the nicotine? I hate shaking all the time. Think its building muscle though lol. So, nothing wrong with EcigEx then, right? Just the vg nic? My brother made me some juice a few times and he uses pg nic, and that too was harsh to me at 6mg. He doesn't notice it but sure do. Think I might make some plain nic juice for now and just vape the flavored ones at 0 until I get this right.
As I understand it - you do not want to use a milk frother or really anything except a magnet stir plate with nicotine.
Nic will oxidize faster than anything else in your DiY kit to the point where any time with the bottle cap open is wasted time- especially if you're agitating the nic while open to air.
Most experts go as far as spraying argon into their nic bottles before closing- argon will neutralize oxygen that gets trapped inside the bottle- even that little bit can start oxidation (this whole paragraph is probably scientifically wrong, but this is how I have it in my head)
Sawzall method will still work to loosen it up a bit- but don't open mix or heat it up at all.
>argon will neutralize oxygen that gets trapped inside the bottle
Argon displaces the air. Literally pushes the air (thus oxygen) out of the bottle like water would.
Argon is inert (and is indeed a noble gas), so it reacts with such few chemicals that it might as well be a vacuum.
there is no neutralisation.
I agree with getting a test kit and shaking vg nic more, but what weight did you input for your nic? Should be about 1.26. If you're just using 1, that might make a difference in bigger bottles. I mix by weight but still just use a syringe for nic.
I would recommend testing it alone in VG if you have not already done so. I had a small transfer vial of nic I was curious if it had become harsh or not. Figured it was still completely clear so it might be fine, but it had been shelved for a few months in a half empty vial (I normally will keep them in the freezer.). Made a 3mg and it was a bit on the harsh side so I tossed it. I really like the Nude Nic product, hopefully you have success with that!
i am new, yes. but what i have been doing is storing my nic(wizardlabs 100mg 100%vg) in the bubblewrap it came in, within a mason jar. when i go to mix, i toss the whole masonjar/bubblewrap/nic-jar combo in my cheapo ultrasonic cleaner for several cycles while i mix all the juices i am going to make. then remove the nic from its coffin and use my syringe to draw up the solution 15-20times before i add any to any bottles. since the nicotine stays in the coffin for the whole time its in the 'cleaner it doesn't heat up, but i haven't had a hotspot/harshness yet.
